2. Gas prices/Economy

My mom's retired, and therefore on a limited income. Like many people in America, she's starting to have to choose between gas and other things. Her 10-year-old Camry gets decent gas mileage, but she'd still love to buy a more fuel efficient car. Trouble is, she can't afford it!

She'd move somewhere with better public transportation, but she can't afford it! So, she's pretty much trapped here in the desert, twiddling her thumbs, and hoping the plunging stock market doesn't result in her retirement going down the toilet.

Talking heads are saying with the same absolute certainty that Iranians are killing Americans in Iraq that they used to blame on Al Qaeda. Identically, they offer not one scintilla of evidence that either is to blame and that Iraqis love us and want us to remain in their country forever. :eyes:

At the highest levels of the Bush administration, right up to President Bush and even Vice President Cheney, torture had been approved as official policy of the United States.

But I probably only dreamed that part, because I sure as the world haven't heard anything about that on my teevee.
