It passed, btw, after the customary 40 minutes of no doubt contentious debate.

So on the one hand, you've got resolutions proclaiming things like national mayonnaise month or congratulating a boy scout for rescuing a cat stuck up a tree.

On the other, you've got the most consistently criminal, renegade, pathologic and unrestrained administration in US history and they must be driven out of office and out of town before they can do any further harm. The next stop should be The Hague for their date with the ICC war crimes tribunals.

The former group presents no gotchas, nor will it cause Fux Nudes to be mad at them (which Conyers says is one of the main reasons he hasn't moved forward with impeachment hearings).

The latter is a can of politically sensitive worms and dealing with these issues would actually require statesmanship (in the gender-neutral sense), perhaps the commodity in shortest supply in DC these days.

I don't know; this congress in particular is both incomprehensible and beneath contempt. There is no justification good enough to cover their constant collaboration with the Bush junta. They say there's no time for impeachment, but there's apparently plenty of time to designate October as Suzy Creamcheese and Frank Zappa Nostalgia Month.

They say impeachment might hurt their chances this November, which assumes congress' approval rating could sink much lower. It also fails to recognize that, absent impeachment, there's no guarantee that there will even be elections this year -- or any other for that matter -- if these vermin aren't impeached and removed from office yesterday.

O that this were a functional democratic republic with rational, informed, awake citizens willing to do what it takes to restore their birthright and severely punish those who tried to steal it from them.

Putin is playing both sides in this crises like a chess master.

If the flow of Gulf oil is interrupted, Russia will emerge as the worlds sole energy superpower. With the wealth they gain, coupled with the partial collapse of the US economy, they will be back on a par with the United States in short order.

This is the game Putin is playing. It is obvious, starting with his doctoral thesis in the 90's through the recent 'diplomacy'.


The leadership of China is playing a similar game, the "if the enemy is destroying themselves, don't get in the way" gambit. People seem to forget that they are still a Communist dictatorship, with the same old leadership. They will be more than willing to have their people suffer for a time to get a leg up on the US, as our ass is hanging out a hell of a lot farther than their’s regarding oil flow. And, yes, they export a lot to us. Thing is, those exports can just as easily be shipped to Russia for oil, since US companies have transferring full cycle manufacturing capability.

I cannot help but think their leadership has been playing what passes for 'leadership' in this country on the long con (remember, all con games are dependant on the greed of the 'mark').


In summary, Russia and China will do nothing but profit off of the Republican blunder.

The effects from loss of Persian Gulf petroleum, which represents 50% of the worlds petroleum export market, will be more than enough to spur martial law.

United 93 was delayed on the runway for 43 minutes.

If it had left on time it would have reached its target and probably knocked down the dome of the Capitol (or the White House). The govt would then have been run entirely from Cheney's bunker.

9/11 was only 50% successful - the twin towers' destruction provided the "shock and awe", the hit at the Pentagon provided the "act of war" but the Legislature survived (so Cheney fell back on plan B - anthrax - to get them in line).

The way I see Cheney doing it is to run a Continuity of Govt exercise then switch to real-time during it (as happened on 9/11). That way the military response/clampdown will already in place and ongoing with no way of backing out.

If the oil flow is cut off because of a bombing, we'll have economic-based unrest in the U.S. There won't be enough cops or mercenaries to stop it. Because the country is so big with empty impassable stretches the results will differ from region to region.
