Israel's UN ambassador calls Jimmy Carter 'a bigot'

NEW YORK (AP) - Israel's ambassador to the United Nations on Thursday called former President Jimmy Carter "a bigot" for meeting with the leader of the militant Hamas movement in Syria.

Carter, a Nobel Peace Prize winner, "went to the region with soiled hands and came back with bloody hands after shaking the hand of Khaled Mashaal, the leader of Hamas," Ambassador Dan Gillerman told a luncheon briefing for reporters...

Carter did the right thing, in my opinion.

2. Wow
That means a lot coming from the ambassador of an Apartheid country that ethnically cleanses its native inhabitants due to their religion.

The Israelis and Israel-supporters lose all credibility when they demonize Jimmy Carter. All it does is expose their own fanatical desperation.

9. Is Israel an honest peace partner?
Edited on Fri Apr-25-08 11:39 AM by haroldgiowa
JMO but Israel has done as much or more then anyone to keep the blood flowing in the mideast. Why does our government keep feeding the real problem here? Could it be money? Both democrats as well as republicans have Palestinian blood on their hands. Both remaining candidates does not demand that Israel step up to the table and deal in real peace. Ask yourself, what would you do if the UN gave your country to someone else?

10. Israel CREATED Hamas. Israel CREATED Hezbollah
Edited on Fri Apr-25-08 11:40 AM by TahitiNut
ANY organization of people in response to military attacks by the IDF on Palestinian civilians (Hamas) or Lebanese civilians (Hezbollah) are demonized and marginalized. A virutally DEFENSELESS Arab population in Palestine or in the failed state of Lebanon has virtually no alternative in an ASSYMETRIC conflict than to resort to (suicide) bombings. To call such acts "terrorism" and give a pass to the bombardment of civilian populations by massive military force is sheer propaganda.

Carter TALKED. Israel, in refusing to talk, commits itself to eradication of such opposing/defensive organizations.

Such an implacable policy from the right-wing in control of Israel consigns them to PERPETUAL and PERMANENT war.

11. Then Carter is my kind of bigot.
Gillerman is a true bigoted piece of shit. Jimmy Carter has been/is one of Israel's best friends. For Gillerman to say that about Carter shows that Gillerman is nothing more than a racist gasbag.
