1. They still have to win their war of propaganda.

And it's not like their propaganda is very good any more. It's too soon after being hoodwinked before. But they realize this, and instead of quality, I think they are just going for quantity... the more times you can mention "Iran" and "nuclear weapons" in the same breath, the more minds you infect.

and they know how close they are to breaking the will of people not yet ready to support impeachment. This planned war, without a "hearts and minds" campaign, would make many, many more voters ready to say "fuck it, impeach"

The Dems refuse to go there because they prognosticate they won't have the votes.

Even though it'd be a really good way to limit the time these bastards have to plan wars with other countries that have done nothing to us. And finally get some coverage of the countless crimes they've committed.

If they haven't impeached yet, they aren't going to. There are too many crimes and abuses already, one more won't push the dems over the edge until they impeach.

As far as public opinion in Iran, "So?". I seriously doubt the Bush admin cares what the public or the world think. In fact I have heard insiders say that is exactly how Cheney operates, with a total lack of concern for the opinions of others.

They know they probably won't be held accountable for anything no matter what they do. If stealing elections, assaulting the constitution and authorizing torture isn't enough, pretty much nothing is.
