The site OlbermannWatch -- the personal effort by blogger Robert A. Cox to document the atrocities of Keith Olbermann, has been shuttered.

"We had held out hope that MSNBC would allow Olbermann's contract to expire even up until the last few weeks. But the deal is done and our Countdown Clock expired at midnight on March 1, 2007."

Faced with Olbermann's new four-year deal with NBC Universal, Mr. Cox seems to have taken his blog and gone home...




The Olbermannwatch website has been scrubbed, and in its place is only a terse, unhappy message:

"e have come to the conclusion that we have done more harm than good over the past 2+ years in keeping Olbermann in the public eye at a time when few were watching his show and even less cared about his assault on the journalistic standards we hold dear. So, after careful consideration and consultation with the entire staff, we have decided the time has come to retire OlbermannWatch.com."

I like to use DU as a source for new info to add to the appropriate place in Wikipedia. Having read this post, I went to Keith Olbermann's Wikipedia bio so that, after the reference to OlbermannWatch, I could gleefully add that it had folded.

Unfortunately, this pathetic blog was so insignificant that none of the right-wingers who push the conservative line in Wikipedia had even bothered to add it to the Olbermann article in the first place.

Along with his nauseating Olbermannwatch site, Robert Cox is also the president of the Media Bloggers Assn., which gained bloggers access to the Libby trial. So, like I said, if you've enjoyed firedoglake's Libby coverage, you have Cox to thank.

Not to defend the guy's site — I'm a big, big Olbermann fan — but it just goes to show that everyone's got an upside. Well, almost everyone, that is (I'm looking at you, Cheney!)
