Pentagon Paid $1.7 Million in Defense Contracts to Polygamous Sect Leaders
Pentagon paid $1.7 million to firms of polygamy bosses

By Randi Kaye
CNN

NEW YORK (CNN) -- The U.S. government paid more than $1.7 million in defense contracts over the last decade to companies owned by leaders of Warren Jeffs' polygamous sect, with tens of thousands allegedly winding its way back to Jeffs and his church.

The Pentagon had contracts with three companies with ties to Warren Jeffs' polygamous sect.

In fact, some of the deals were made after Jeffs was named to the FBI's "Most-Wanted List" and remained in place while he was on the run.

CNN has learned that between 1998 and 2007, the United States Air Force and Defense Logistics Agency purchased more than $1.7 million worth of airplane parts from three companies owned by members of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which practices polygamy.

Those companies are Utah Tool and Die, Western Precision and NewEra Manufacturing. Today, the companies all operate under the name NewEra Manufacturing, a company based in Las Vegas, Nevada, that says it supplies precision components "for the aerospace, military, medical, recreational and other commercial entities."

5. Guys, my eyeballs are going round and round in my skull,
Watching the mass in St. Patrick's cathedral for a large group of clerics who "live in poverty, chastity, and..." was it humility? All the cardinals, bishops in attendance dripping with gold and groaning under heavy vestments, carrying staffs of gold and silver. Cardinal Egan said St. Patricks was built with pennies from the poor. I have not watched intently, but coverage of the LDS polygamy sect in Texas--hey they save money on dress patterns (patterns cost over $7 now). The word "mormon" has not been spoken as far as I have noticed. Could it be because of Willard Romney's wacky religion that they leave that detail out? I am getting paranoid about all the propaganda out there.

7. Perfect reasons
Why we need "real" change in this country. We need to stop such madness, and we don't need more of the same, only with a democrat in the whitehouse!

Part of any "real" change will be the people kicking out any congress person, democrat or republican, who goes along with crap like this, and the millions of other "pork" projects they try and sneak into bills so nobody knows about them. Bush has shown us what stupidity is all about when it comes to running this country, it's time for some real leadership in this country.

11. Since 2001, most federal contracts have set-asides for "faith-based" contractors
This is the obvious result - the GOP-dominated Government funded extremist Fundamentalist cults to make weapons systems to fight Holy Wars.
