Found: Recipe from Cindy McCain
Giada De Laurentiis's Cindy McCain's Old Fashioned Family Cookies
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
1 cup powdered sugar, plus more for dusting
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Pinch salt
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup toasted pine nuts, chopped
1/2 cup Percocet and Vicodin

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F.

Combine the butter, powdered sugar, cocoa powder, vanilla, and salt in a large bowl. Using a hand mixer, beat the mixture until creamy, about 2 minutes. Add the flour, pine nuts, and Percocet. Stir until just mixed.

Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper. Scoop out 1-inch balls of dough. Place on the cookie sheet. Bake until the tops look dry, about 18 minutes. Let cool for 15 minutes on the baking sheets. Dust with powdered sugar and transfer to a serving plate.

1. Just a boo-boo by a low level peon, no worries:
http://thinkprogress.org/2008/04/15/mccain-campaign-blames-recipe-debacle-on-low-level-unpaid-staffer/

McCain campaign blames recipe ‘debacle’ on ‘low-level unpaid’ staffer.»

Yesterday, Huffington Post reported that at least three McCain “family recipes” on a section of the senator’s presidential campaign site were “word-for-word copies of recipes on the Food Network site.” TMZ.com now reports that the McCain campaign has already taken down the recipes and is branding the affair a “low-level unpaid staff debacle.” The staffer in question has reportedly been “swiftly dealt with.”

3. Do you grind up the Percocet and Vicodin and mix it in....
...or do you sprinkle them decoratively on top?

7. Supposedly...
Edited on Tue Apr-15-08 02:23 PM by Lost-in-FL
you take them with a glass of water while waiting on the oven to reach the 325 deg. F. This process will make the cookies crispier.

Edited to change oven temperature.

11. Personally, I think it's hilarious that there is a contingent out there
who thinks that a potential first lady's baking acumen is important.

Color me mental.
