It is time Dems Put On Their Armor, See Past Calls for Bipartisanship, And Clean House....
As noted by former federal prosecutor Elizabeth de la Vega,

"It's time for a full-scale congressional hearing to hold the Bush administration accountable."

The Democrats need to understand that the American people would stand and cheer them if they took an active "take no prisoners" approach to examining all of the corruption that has infiltrated their government. It would mean that corruption is exposed where ever it is found, and it is rooted out as the criminal and corrupt conduct that it is. The power is there if the Democrats decide to use it.

It would restore confidence of the American people in their government, and in honestly facing what has to be done to return their government to the people, they would even agree to pay more in the way of taxes to actually fix what is wrong. And many might be surprised to learn that the costs would not be that high if we began collecting what is being stolen and wasted today.

The best medicine for warding off future corruption is punishing today's corrupt practices. IF Dems stood up to the Republican moneyed interests and held responsible those engaging in corruption today, sent them to prison, it would have a positive effect of discouraging future corrupt acts by those who might have chanced only the possibility of having to resign office and pay a fine if caught.

There is nothing 'bipartisan' about corruption. And the benefits of 'cleaning house' would pay all of us benefits which will grow exponentially in the future.

It is time to show that the Democrats are different than the Republicans, that they take their responsibilities to the people seriously, and if they do we will see uninterrupted Democratic rule for the foreseeable future as the people watch things change for the better.

1. That makes a certain amount of sense
It should be politically viable - the Republicans can't really oppose it without saying, more or less, that they are opposed to overseeing the President - not a viable position. And investigating the White House ties in broadly with what the Democrats were sent to congress to do.

2. Kicked and voted!
The only problem is what to do with LIEberman. If we hold their feet to the fire my joke of a Senator switches parties. This would end our ability to continue the inquiry's.

3. Democrats said that the 2006 election
was all about Iraq and change in direction for the country. If they don't follow through and make a change and get the United States out of Iraq I think they are going to find that the people who voted for them in 2006 will not be voting for them again.

Americans are tired of the self interest and corruption of it's politicians. I quite frankly don't want to hear what they plan to do I want to hear what they've done.

4. Properly framed and carried out, to oppose the efforts Republicans would have to defend corruption..
So we give Republicans the opportunity to 'defend' any corrupt individuals and/or practices, but we do not give them the opportunity to bog down the process and turn it into something else.

It will be very hard, but once people catch a whiff of what real 'housecleaning' looks like, and the extent of the corruption that has been institutionalized, there will be huge support.

In order to carry the sword of credibility, Dems will have to consistently exposed corruption and not hold back to protect any favored interests. IF they do this, the positive benefits of this effort will be apparent almost immediately. For one thing, there will be a massive exodus from government positions by those about to be exposed.

Democrats need to call for Republicans to join in the efforts or be held responsible at the polls for trying to defend the status quo.

8. Oh How I Wish Repubs Had Used 'Nuclear Option' When They Were Majority...
They were all bluff on the 'nuclear option' and got their judge nominees through on it.

If it had been used, Republican Senators could bring lawn chairs and watch the Democrats act, while dreaming of their alternate realities.

9. Those who do not remember history are doomed to repeat it
"The best medicine for warding off future corruption is punishing today's corrupt practices..... And the benefits of 'cleaning house' would pay all of us benefits which will grow exponentially in the future."

When will that lesson EVER be learned?

10. And those who fail to act in the face of disaster are part of history as well....
Crimes of omission can be more damaging than crimes of commission.

Failing to fix levies before the hurricane hits. Failing to stop an invasion of Iraq. Failing to head off the President's unconstitutional dismantlement of rights reserved to the people.

THose who have the power to act and do not are part of history as well.

THose who choose not to choose, have chosen nonetheless.
