1. China has too much invested in the Olympics to cancel it now...
Of course, it's up to the participating nations to decide whether to participate or not (personally, I feel they shouldn't participate, given what's been happening in Tibet).

3. Not Just China...
NBC has spent millions on the rights...many other corporates have far more invested. Boycotting didn't work in 1980 and it won't do any good here. If anything it takes away the media light from that country and could make things worse for Tibet. Look what happened when our cameras were turned off at Tien Amin Square.

The Olympics and be used as a platform about the plight of the Tibetan people...but part of a wider campaign. The economic boycott, similar to the one that brought down Apartheid...long term and wide ranging, is what brings change.

Reality is the Olympics won't be canceled and our boycotting, while right in principal, will not make the statement many here hope. Our boycotting in 1980 didn't force the Soviets out of Afghanistan.

Each of us can do our own personal boycott...note the companies who bought rights to use the Olympic rings or have some other tie in...that's where the real boycott begins.
