OH GOD! The pubies are leaning toward Gingrich!
An online survey by Vote.com of 29,000 Republican Primary voters showed surprisingly strong support for former House Speaker Newt Gingrich -- who hasn't even entered the race -- and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani. Gingrich topped the survey with 41% of the vote followed by Giuliani with 33%. Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney ran a distant third with 12% and former front runner Senator John McCain lagged in fourth place with only 7%.

Poll Results:

JOHN MCCAIN = 7% (1,900)

RUDY GIULIANI = 33% (9,707)

MITT ROMNEY = 12% (3,514)

CHUCK HEGEL = 1% (373)

NEWT GINGRICH = 41% (11,802)

SAM BROWNBACK = 3% (816)

MIKE HUCKABEE = 3% (901)

I live in Ga., and believe me, this is the lastPub you want to even have a chance atbeing President! The problem is,he's a very smooth talker and can convince a LOT of people that he's smart and would be on their side...no matter what side that is!

We better start NOW to destroy his credibility, or we're going to have a real problem, no matter who the Dem candidate is!

13. Gingrich, the one guy who openly admits he wants to repress free speech?
Pfft... that would be easier than running unopposed!

17. I agree!
I have been telling friends that Gingrich would be the DREAM candidate! The ultimate adulterer, AND forced to resign from the House by scandal.

What could be better, particularly for this particular group of Democrats? There isn't one of them with a chance of winning who would be the least bit shy about taking THIS one on.

3. I hope Newt runs....He's a riot. Just give him enough rope and he'll hang himself
He just keeps talking until one of his great lines comes out, then the public will go "Oh, yeah!....that's right....This guy is a MORON." It will be great fun.

Boy, the Right really is having trouble finding someone with any real appeal or chance of winning to run aren't they?

4. Newt is going
to try to be picked for the VP's spot. It is a trade-off that the rabid right will request in order to support someone like McCain or Rudy. More, from his work with Cheney and Libby, Newt recognizes that the OVP is the true seat of power today.

5. Good, let them ...
... "Hey Newt ... which wife was it you were cheating on when you had that affair with a staffer, you know ... during the same time you were jumping all over President Clinton for being an adulterer?"

 If he's the best they have to offer, any Dem should win in a cakewalk.

Either one is very beatable. Giuliani will take a Gore candidacy to win the WH.

to be willing to take a chance on him despite his personal life and liberal positions on gay rights and abortion.

12. Okay, time to fess up: Some DUers stuffed the ballot box, right?
I mean, Newt Fucking Gingrich?

Newt "Told My Wife I Was Leaving Her For Another Woman While She Was Undergoing Chemotherapy" Gingrich?

Newt "Big Government Is Bad But Putting Children Of Single Mothers In Government Orphanages Is Good" Gingrich?

To call that gray slimy bloated Kermit-the-frog-voiced blowhard a toad is a slander against toads. Someone must've rigged the polling to show an opponent whose ass even Joe Biden could kick!

Newt Gingrich:rofl::rofl::rofl:

15. Do not under estimate the RWing's ability to ignore
the little transgression of the Newt. He is the most viable candidate at this time. I will not be surprised when he announces sometime in Sept. and polls above all the others.

I knowYOU listen to him and see an adulterer, and a crook, but the RW looks at him and say,OHHH, he speaks so well, he has GREAT ideas, and I LIKE him as a person! These fools will over look all his past disgressions as "mistakes he made but is sorry now".

Believe me, watch him! I really believe he could WIN!

14. That's good. That fat shit has more skeletons in his closet than
a three hundred year old cemetery has in their underground burial vaults. He's leading because people's memories haven't been refreshed. Let's haul out the divorces, the fucking his girlfriend on the SPEAKAH's couch, table, desk, the blow jobs...the "stipulation to sexual contact" in his divorce trial, the shutting down of the government, the meanness, the videotape...yes, all that meanspirited, florid-faced, smartass videotape! Let's all take a trip down memory lane, and see that fatfaced fuck at his "best!"

Romney is FUCKED. He will say anything to get elected, and they have him, saying EVERYTHING, on tape. Plus, that Mormon thing...the fundies don't like those Mormons, and the rest of the GOP don't either--they'll never admit that, but it's true.

Giuliani? He wears women's clothes, he wed three wives, and you know the homophobic GOP ain't gonna be too thrilled with a guy who roomed with "two gay guys and a shitzu" after he let his wife and small children know--ON TV--that he wanted a divorce, are they? Time to dust off his pre-911 record...let's not forget, he was the idiot who put the Emergency Command Center in the known and established TARGET of Al Queda ire. And then there's all that pesky abuse of dark skinned people by his stormtroopers er, police. Plus, he's a mean mutha--there's way too much tape on him, too. Plus, his latest wife comes off as an asshole. That shouldn't count, but face it, it does.

McCain is seen as the clown who held Dubya to his bosom, and will say anything the Monkey tells him to in order to gain power. His pill popping, way-too-young-for-him second wife (time to dig up the first one and harass her, the media will say) who had a stroke would do better than him on the ballot. He's fucked, too.

The ones to worry about, really, are Hagel, Brownback, and Huckabee--they have the 'real deal appeal' that will get the fundies out in force. Hagel, because he's the REAL "straight talk" guy, and the other two because they're relatively clean with a family values patina. Huckabee, especially, has been polishing up his "Awww, Shucks" nice-guy act for awhile--and he's got it down to a fine art. And he's become Mister Fitness by losing a boatload of southern-food weight, writing a cheery, upbeat book, and becoming everyone's kindly uncle in the process.

I'm tellin' ya folks, the Pubies want to win in 08, and if either of these guys can convince them that they will be the best candidate to defeat any evil Dem, that's who their candidate will be! They'll forgive them for their past, even though they can NEVER forgive any Dem for ANYTHING!

27. Yeah and it's a toss-up who is tackier: the one who moved his mistress into the mansion
or the one who dumped his wife while she was trying to recover from cancer.

Nice values both of them show. Either one is a shoo-in for the misogynist vote.

24. NEWT! NEWT! NEWT!
Possibly the most polarizing candidate the GOP can run. He has been burnishing his credentials with the religious Right for years - and not just the conservative evangelicals, but the reeeeally crazy nutjobs who are trying to rewrite American history - literally - to portray the U.S. as a Christian nation.

Jeff Sharlet, who writes powerful exposes of the religious Right for Harper's, recently struck again with "Through a Glass, Darkly: How the Christian Right Is Reimagining U.S. History." Harper's timed the publishing of Sharlet's article to coincide with the release of Gingrich's latest book, Rediscovering God in America, with which Newt attempts to put himself at the front of the revisionist movement.

Like his 2005 piece, "Soldiers of Christ: Inside America's Most Powerful Megachurch with Pastor Ted Haggard," Sharlet's examination of the Christian Right is by turns enlightening, alarming and amusing. It is now available online. Do yourselves a favor and read it here:

http://harpers.org/ThroughAGlassDarkly-12838838.html

I would be dee-lighted to see Newt on the ticket. Those voters who he does not turn off with his unsavory political and personal past will be scared off by his theocratic philosophy.
