The girl who started "Catch an Illegal Immigrant" game..Olbermann's Worst Person last year.

This is just so very good it deserves its own thread. I wrote about Governor Dean's request to the RNC to stop these games, but this little tidbit I missed.

Morgan Wilkins was Keith Olbermann's "Worst Person in the World", I think last year when they did these stupid games before. Here is the link to the video from Countdown and a website I found it on.

Hillbilly Report
Jan. 16, 2007
Will former Leadership Institute field representative and noted College Republican, Keith Olbermann’s “Worst Person In The World”, Morgan Wilkins announce her campaign for Kentucky Federation of College Republicans Chairman in the coming weeks? A website, www.MorganWilkins.com, has been registered, and a greeting at the site promises a full launch soon. Stay tuned.

She's too pretty to be so doggone hateful to others in this country.

Here is what I wrote about Dean's letter to the RNC today.

http://journals.democraticunderground.com/madfloridian/1127

The DNC contacted the RNC last year as well.

I guess everyone knows about the Leadership Institute? I notice the Alumni link is now apparently dead. Do you suppose they don't want anyone to know?

Edited for link to the Institute:

http://www.leadershipinstitute.org/about/aboutmain.cfm

Looks like GOP is distancing itself from the Leadership Institute in a way.

Oh, and here's the link to the Olbermann video of the Worst Person.

http://www.fireannenorthup.com/Video/countdown-20060914-worst.wmv

I edited out the word gal which for some reason offended two people and kept the point from being made that she was a field rep for a rather pathetic institute. I don't know why it was offensive, but I find things posted always offend someone...but hey....whatever.

And it gives the date of Countdown as September 14, 2006.

14. Lemme get this straight
The games involve "catching" illegals and "shooting" Hillary. Yet you're more upset about catching criminals than a game about assassinating a senator?

You're priorities are totally whacked.

Oh, yeah...and there's nothing racist about "catching" criminals. If it were about "shooting" criminals without a fair trial, that would be--again, not racist--but un-American.

Enough of the race card, already!

11. That's weird, just weird.
Edited on Wed Feb-28-07 12:35 AM by madfloridian
I am not going to change the word or the picture. That word is used often as a greeting or reference term. I see nothing wrong with the picture either.

I don't get your problem. I am a woman, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a retired teacher. If I want to use the word gal I will do so.

This place here is getting so weird.

I edited the word gal out because of you two. I am stunned and amazed, but I edited it and put a note in the OP. We use the word so casually here toward each other, but oh well.

6. Leadership Institute...also graduated Jeff Gannon.
http://mediamatters.org/items/200502120002

"According to its website, The Leadership Institute Broadcast School of Journalism is "n intense two-day seminar ... designed to give aspiring journalists the skills necessary to bring balance to the media and succeed in this highly competitive field." It costs $50, for which attendees receive "two days of instruction, meals on Saturday and Sunday and all course materials," as well as free housing "on a first-come, first-served basis."

The Leadership Institute's annual budget of $8 million has been financed by contributions from wealthy conservatives -- including major conservative financier Joseph Coors, a June 2001 New York Times article reported. Numerous conservative foundations, such as the Coors-funded Castle Rock Foundation, the F.M. Kirby Foundation, the Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation, and the Richard and Helen DeVos Foundation, have also provided funding to the Institute."

The founder

"Morton Blackwell is a former Reagan White House staffer, a lifelong Republican activist and a member of the executive committee of the Republican National Committee. At the 2004 Republican National Convention, Blackwell passed out adhesive bandages marked with Purple Hearts to mock Senator John Kerry. The discredited anti-Kerry group Swift Vets and POWs for Truth (formerly Swift Boat Veterans for Truth) questioned Kerry's receipt of medals for his service in Vietnam, including Kerry's three Purple Hearts. The Navy's chief investigator concluded that all of Kerry's medals were "properly approved." Republican leaders "publicly repudiated" Blackwell's actions, as did the Military Order of The Purple Heart, a wounded veterans organization, according to a September 1, 2004, New York Times article."

15. "Bring balance to the media" = code for
"train new conservative journalists so they can take over the field and wipe out all liberal or moderate-slanting media, replacing them with nothing but proponents of conservative, right-wing ideology."

19. Coulter today reminded me. ....she could be another like her.
MyDD has a post about it tonight.

http://www.mydd.com/story/2007/3/2/22473/12639

Ann Coulter Is Their Problem

"It makes a whole lot of sense that Mitt Romney would sing the praises of Ann Coulter. Romney is clearly wants to prove he's credible to a certain strain of conservativism in which Coulter is something of a rock star. She's the entertainment at CPAC -- an event that a conservative DC media guy would call the 'Republicans YearlyKos' -- for a reason. There may be an effort in some circles to paint Coulter as some sort of outlier, but in actual fact she's a node on a network that forms the backbone of American conservativism. I just whipped this up, but consider how at all starts to fit together."

And the ending paragraph:
"Ann Coulter may well now be a rogue elephant -- you know, the ones who are shunned for their anti-social behavior and eventually lose their minds? But she comes, no doubt, from this conservative herd."

And as Sullivan pointed out tonight she appears to be face of the new Republicanism.

16. So the CRNC fired her last year....but they are still playing the game...
There is a lot of interesting stuff here from Louisville's Drinking Liberally group. She did not get fired for the games or the sign she held up about Debbie Stabenow, but for a page she put up at Facebook.

http://drinkingliberally.org/blogs/louisville/archives/2006/09/wingnut_morgan.html

It's pathetic, really. And they are still playing the game, and the RNC is still helpless to stop them.

This appears to be have after her Worst Person in the World honor.

20. This goes right along with their planned outrages..."controlled controversy"
The GOP's "controlled controversy"...outrageous enough to make us angry. Deliberate.

It's worked, looks like a whole generation of young Republicams who love to make fun of people. The fact they cheered Coulter so loudly today shows she is their hero, and that is very sad.
