:wtf: If they are that desperate, I'm assuming we can expect Circuit City "Going Out of Business" sales at some point this year.

1. I have no doubt a lot of businesses are hoping for those checks...
I doubt we'll see many Circuit City stores going out of business. Just another sales pitch. That's all.

2. It is a sales promo...you get $400 off retail if you pay with your Income tax check.

3. Why not just mail the checks straight to China?
That's where they'll end up anyways.

5. They'd be crazy not to try that angle
Businesses are in it to make money. Significant checks going out to nearly every adult is a pretty darn big opportunity for retailers. I'd be more likely to question the business acumen of retailers NOT pushing "rebate check season" promotions.

6. I quit shopping there a few years ago.
When they fired all of their longer term (higher paid) employees and let them re-apply for re-hire at a lower pay scale.

Fuck them.

7. Agreed....I haven't been back there since.
And I'm about to drop Starbucks too, given their latest shenanigans with the tips.

9. They are not getting any of my money
I'll be giving all my rebate money to bait shops in many small increments.

10. 150 billion in rebates
And Paulson says it'll create about 600,000 jobs. That is $250k for each job created, and many will probably be low wage jobs at Circuit city, chevron or walmart.

Behold the magic of conservative idealogy. Obama is proposing spending about $9 billion a year to create about 2 million jobs by repairing infrastructure. Another $15 billion a year to create 5 million jobs in renewable energy.

12. Bring Us Your Money...Forget About Any Service
I've long avoided Circus Shitty...I ran into lots of poor service from them. I bought a puter and it was a real lemon, within two days I took it back to the store, they told me they I could "exchange" for another "comprable machine"...or leave the machine at the store for 6 weeks while it goes on a whirlwind tour to see what was wrong with it. I just wanted my money back and the managers there said that they could exchange but not refund...it took me calls to their corporate and lots of heated words to finally get a total refund for the lemon machine...and then it took nearly 3 months for the check to arrive (meanwhile surely making a few bucks of interest of my money).

My tax bribe is being donated to Democratic Congressional candidates...a bunch of $50 and $100 donations to get Progressives elected and removed the scourge of GOOPism from American politics and the world.
