AlterNet: Will Rush Limbaugh Be Indicted for Voter Fraud?
Will Rush Limbaugh Be Indicted for Voter Fraud?

By Steven Rosenfeld, AlterNet. Posted March 21, 2008.

As Ohio election officials investigate illegal crossover voting in the 2008 primary, questions arise on Limbaugh's role.

As the board of election in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, where Cleveland is located, launches an investigation into illegal crossover voting in the state's 2008 presidential primary, a big open question remains unanswered: Will county officials go after the ringleaders of apparently illegal electioneering where thousands of Republican voters swore -- under penalty of law -- allegiance to the Democratic Party in order to vote for Hillary Clinton?

In case you missed it, Rush Limbaugh, the nation's top-rated talk radio host, was urging Republicans in Texas and Ohio to skip their party's primary on March 4 and instead cast a vote for Hillary Clinton in order to prolong the fight between her and Barack Obama. And that Tuesday, as media in both states reported, thousands of Republicans did just what Limbaugh and others had suggested -- they changed parties to vote for Clinton.

"I want Hillary to stay in this, Laura," Limbaugh told Laura Ingraham on Feb. 29, near the start of his Hillary crusade. "This is too good a soap opera. We need Barack Obama bloodied up politically, and it's obvious that the Republicans are not going to do it and don't have the stomach for it, as you probably know."

And on Wednesday, the day after the Ohio primary, Fox News asked Clinton if she owed Limbaugh a thank you. "Be careful what you wish for, Rush," she replied. Later that day, Limbaugh played the Fox tape on his show and said, "How do you interpret this, folks? She could have said thank you. She could have said thank you! In fact, I was expecting in her victory speech last night to be thanked.

"I helped give Mrs. Clinton the biggest and happiest moment and night of the campaign season so far, maybe her life, and she tells me, "Be careful what you wish for, Rush"? Why, that sounds like a threat, does it not? I've got a Democrat presidential candidate threatening your host. Why, I am stunned! After all I did ..." ......(more)

1. Should be, but won't. Repukes never suffer consequences for their actions.
It is up to the citizens of this country to demand justice in these cases. And if the rigged system that protects republics won't provide it, the people should.

2. Let's see how happy he is on Nov. 5th
The GOP may get their asses kicked anyway.

But even if the Dems lose the GE, he's still stuck with John McCain, whom he and the rabid right have absolutely no use for. He won't get a conservative nearly as radical what he yearned for.

That fat pus-filled piece of trash doesn't understand that he and the loony conservatives HAVE ALREADY LOST.

4. Any thought that McInsane is anything but a rabid Reich-winger is a sign of delusion.
With the media's help, he has portrayed himself as a maverick who does not kiss the ass of the fascists. The truth is that he is every bit as reactionary as any of them. He may be a little more devious at hiding his views and values, but do not be fooled by the lies.

Oxyrush and all the rest will get into line behind him once the GE rolls around.

3. Of course not. Limpballs is untouchable, he's a Puke. Voter fraud,
election fraud, sex scandals, hidden records, desertion, illegally procuring drugs...anything any Puke does is excusable. From Chimpy on up, if it's a Puke scandal, nothing will be done.

5. Damn That First Ammendment
Firstly, I really doubt Rushbo can or does affect the Democratic primaries. He only wishes he could. In fact, he has had little affect over his own coven...that's why Fred Thompson or Ghouliani isn't the nominee.

If this scumbag can skate on purchase and possession of controlled substances, this is a walk in the park. It's a clear cut case that free speech is exactly that. While I detest anything that asshat spews, he still has the right to spew them...and if people are stupid enough to listen, that's another issue. You can't legislate stupidity.

13. They both had Jeb Bush as governor on their side.

And it was no problem for Bighead Jeb to extend professional
courtesies to friends in need at their time of trouble. :eyes:

9. NO. But, will he be indicted for encouraging others to break the law? Possible
and he cannot escape because he is protected by corrupt Rs.

It seems the correct charge will be conspiracy or promoting criminal conduct.

The AG in Ohio is not a Junta lackey! Marc Dann is a Dem, so no free pass just for being a true believer.

10. Help me understand this??
I know that Rush has been urging his listeners to vote in the Democrat primaries in order to create mischief, but I am unsure why that would be illegal.

If a state in question allows a person to vote in either party or to change his affiliation before the primary election to vote for another party, than where is the law that is broken.

Look we may not like it, and it is below the belt, but we can not go around making every thing done in politics that we do not like illegal, or soon nothing will be legal.

Sigh, I am afraid that some things we will just have to learn to live with.

If this was out right fraud okay go and nail them, letting someone vote the way they want is and should not be illegal.

To illustrate (although I do not believe it is done so much any more) in Chicago they would run commercials and ads urging people to vote a straight Democrat ticket (punch 10 is one I seem to remember). Basic ly the same thing.

11. A difficult to enforce law in Ohio, but, clearly, a violation of the law and PUNISHABLE
and the duty of the authorities to enforce.

However, I do not expect the Junta's USAs for Ohio to act.
I'm waiting for a response to my offer of evidence of vote fraud in 2004.

Here is how a conviction would be easy. The chargerd person works for the Republican Party on Election Day, swears they are a DEM to vote as a Dem, then goes back to work as a Republican operative. That would be "easy to prove" false swearing of an oath.
It also places in criminal jeopardy every R worker in Ohio stupid enough to follow Limbo's advice.

12. you have to swear you are a DEM?
I mean, if it is an open primary...then there is nothing to bust here. If it is not an open primary then you have something to go on. Is Ohio's primary open or not?

I don't know what is on the primary election registrations verbiage-wise so it is hard to tell what is up here..

15. I still do not get it??
If a person changes his party affiliation for a primary (no matter what may be his/her reason) and than swears to vote for that party (again in the primary) and does so. What law is broken??

Now since I do not know what the laws in Ohio are, do they then compel this person to remain for a period of time affiliated to the party to which he swore allegiance for the primary??

If that be the case and he/she then votes for the other party in a subsequent election than maybe we have vote fraud.

However I would have a hard time understanding or supporting this in a general election, where a person is allowed (or should be, and for the sake of argument lets leave out vote stealing and other methods of fraud) to vote for any candidate or party he/she feels like up to an including splitting a ballot.

Of course in Wisconsin we do not have this situation, we have a long history of open primaries, party affiliations do not matter.

Any way I am willing to learn if some one can explain the fraud in this case.

18. It is a CRIME to falsely swear. Dems should slap a multi-million dollar civil lawsuit
In this case it is also a conspiracy to disrupt an election process of another party.
The Dems should slap a multi-million dollar civil lawsuit on someone's oversized posterior,
for anti-democratic conspiracy to cause harm be promoting illegal, felonious election conduct.
And place a pair of hooves on that arse too, with a real kick!

14. this is as pre-meditated as it gets
"The strategy is to continue the chaos in this party. Look, there's a reason for this. Our side isn't going to do this. Obama needs to be bloodied up. Look, half the country already hates Hillary. That's good. But nobody hates Obama yet. Hillary is going to be the one to have to bloody him up politically because our side isn't going to do it. Mark my words. It's about winning, folks!" more at link: http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/daily/site_030308/content/01125107.guest.html

Rush also said this on Feb 26, 2008--as he explained in detail the philosophy behind "Pimp Yourself: Vote Hillary!"

"I know I'm fighting an uphill battle here, folks, on trying to convince you Republicans in Ohio and Texas to cross over, pimp yourselves for a day, vote for Hillary to keep this campaign going, this Uncivil War, Democrat Party...It's about those people losing. They've got some problems in the Democrat Party. It's not all sweetness and light over there, and we need them to continue warring with each other.

We love these stories of black people claiming they've been threatened with violence or their lives because they're not supporting Obama. We want all this kind of stuff out there. We want the Clinton campaign to keep pumping out these pictures of Obama dressed up as Bin Laden. We want this kind of stuff.

If Hillary loses this thing, all of that's going to come to a screeching halt. We want all the disruption in that party as possible... link to entire transcript: http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/daily/site_022608/content/01125110.guest.html

"The strategy is to continue the chaos in this party"

"Pimp Yourself: Vote Hillary!"

"We want the Clinton campaign to keep pumping out these pictures of Obama dressed up as Bin Laden."

"Operation Chaos."

a new Democrat: "For one day only."

"My whole family actually voted for Hillary in the Texas primaries and we are all McCain supporters,"

this is as pre-meditated as it gets

i've been wondering if anyone else saw it

17. Yup
One voter scribbled the following addendum to his pledge as a new Democrat: "For one day only."

Such an admission amounts to voter fraud, said McNair, who pushed for the investigation.

"I'm looking for evidence," McNair said. "I'm not interested in a witch hunt. But I am interested in holding people accountable, whether they're Democrat or Republican."

Lying on the signed statement is a fifth-degree felony, punishable by six to 12 months in jail and a $2,500 fine.

and, inciting people to break the law is illegal, too

and, when two or more people conspire to defraud, you have a conspiracy - you're now in RICO territory and the FBI is supposed to get involved

what i posted above is a conspiracy perpetrated in broad daylight - like all the other ones concerning this administration - and, we permit it over and over again

20. Cuyahoga County Board of Elections looking into party switchers
Election board looking into party switchers
http://zanesvilletimesrecorder.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080320/UPDATES01/80320035/1002/NEWS01

CLEVELAND (AP) — The Cuyahoga County Board of Elections is investigating whether any Republicans broke the law when they switched parties in the March 4 presidential primary, apparently to back a weaker opponent for GOP nominee-in-waiting John McCain.

The board expects the results of the investigation March 31.

The board wants to know if voters lied when they signed statements pledging allegiance to their
new party.

About 16,000 GOP voters crossed over to vote for Democrats in the primary.

It’s not clear whether the board will try to prosecute voters.

A 2-2 party-line tie by the board to pursue violators would have to be broken by Secretary of
State Jennifer Brunner, a Democrat. .....

Cuyahoga County Board of Elections begins investigation of primary crossover voters
March 20, 2008 - Joe Guillen - Plain Dealer - http://www.cleveland.com/news/plaindealer/index.ssf?/base/cuyahoga/1206001848245730.xml&coll=2

The Cuyahoga County Board of Elections has launched an investigation that could lead to criminal charges against voters who maliciously switched parties for the March 4 presidential primary.

Elections workers will look for evidence that voters lied when they signed affidavits pledging allegiance to their new party. And at least one board member, Sandy McNair, a Democrat, wants the county prosecutor to review the findings.

....

After the election, some local Republicans admitted they changed parties only to influence which Democrat would face presumed Republican nominee John McCain in November

...

Lying on the signed statement is a fifth-degree felony, punishable by six to 12 months in jail and a $2,500 fine.

..... The board has the power to issue subpoenas, forcing voters to testify about their intent on election day, McNair said. Board Chairman Jeff Hastings said the board would have to vote on whether to issue subpoenas.

McNair and the board's other Democrat, Inajo Davis Chappell, both favor issuing subpoenas. The board's two Republicans, however, weren't yet on board with the idea.
