Cheney On Two-Thirds Of The American Public Opposing The Iraq War: ‘So?’
from ThinkProgress:

Cheney On Two-Thirds Of The American Public Opposing The Iraq War: ‘So?’»

This morning, on the fifth anniversary of the Iraq invasion, ABC’s Good Morning America aired an interview with Vice President Cheney on the war. During the segment, Cheney flatly told White House correspondent Martha Raddatz that he doesn’t care about the American public’s views on the war:

CHENEY: On the security front, I think there’s a general consensus that we’ve made major progress, that the surge has worked. That’s been a major success.

RADDATZ: Two-third of Americans say it’s not worth fighting.

CHENEY: So?

RADDATZ So? You don’t care what the American people think?

CHENEY: No. I think you cannot be blown off course by the fluctuations in the public opinion polls.

Watch it: http://thinkprogress.org/2008/03/19/cheney-poll-iraq/

This opposition to the war is not a “fluctuation” in public opinion. The American public has steadily turned against the war since the 2003 invasion. According to a new CNN poll, just 36 percent of the American public believes that “the situation in Iraq was worth going to war over — down from 68 percent in March 2003, when the war began.”

Even though he doesn’t care what the American public wants, Cheney still thinks he is able — and entitled — to speak for the American public. Last month, Cheney declared, “The American people will not support a policy of retreat.” If Cheney were actually listening to the “American people,” he would know that 61 percent actually supports the redeployment of U.S. troops.

5. That kind of an answer ought to
trigger immediate impeachment in the US House of Representatives. A statement like that is something one would expect under a dictatorship or Monarchy, certainly has no place being said by an elected official in this so called free country.

He's old, and he's rich, and soon he and the whole crowd will be out of office anyway. Plus, he knows that not one of them will ever be held accountable for what they've done. Why should he care?

God, we are dealing with psychopaths here, and there we go, blatant and arrogant truth coming from Cheney, they do not care what we think, is it pitchforks and torches time???

these SOB's are playing with us all, they have killed numerous and wounded numerous Americans, does anyone think that thugs have any sort of remorse of killing more Americans. I do not trust this government of thugs at all. Abuse of power and abuse of the American people.

I hate them all.

We are going to be the only ones to do something to stop their madness, they are playing us for fools, where is outrage?

12. with respect to a War Effort, public opinion is as much as sign of the FAILURE of leadership as it
is a FAILURE in the mission objectives -- which continually change with this crowd so that they can redefine success in terms that they can meet after utterly failing at old benchmarks.

Of course, to frame it truthfully, we're going to leave a situation where we didn't need to be in the first place and that we cannot possibly expect to sustain.

Nothing new on that front. Still, he is such an arrogant bastard one wishes that karma will someday come back to bite him in the ass. I never thought I would wish ill on anyone but Cheney takes the cake. I hope he gets what's coming to him in the end. Since he and Shrub are such "Christians" I wonder what they think of the hell that awaits them after they are no longer here on Earth. Maybe Cheney can say hi to Saddam when he gets there-ironic that he will end up going to the same place.

They care only for money and power. They have caused the death of countless human beings, looted the Treasury, shredded the Constitution and put the nation on the brink of financial collapse. It boggles my mind that they've gotten away with it, but they have. It will take decades to undo the damage done by them.
