Joe Francis of Girls Gone Wild: another victim of Republicanism?
Seems some idiot "religious" republican in Florida didn't want him to film GGW in a small town there and his life became a nightmare because he did the shoot anyway.

I am no supporter of Francis but the legal harassment that has been directed at him is atrocious. More than 70 counts have been thrown at him and the charges have extended across state lines. GGW videotaped two 17 year olds who lied about their ages. The primary count is child pornography. He got off because the pitbull prosecutor stupidly showed the alleged "child porno" to Nightlines' Martin Basheer (who I detest with a vengeance for reasons that I am not able to expound upon at this point.)

All in all, this case is just another canary in the coldmine of the tattered Constitution in RepublicaMerika.

6. Thank you so much for saving that article--I read it when it was published & was appalled....
... at this SOB's abusiveness.

If the Law or various communities come down on him like a ton of bricks, all I can say is it couldn't happen to a nicer guy.

7. The guy's not the canary, he's the deadly gas
Honestly, there is no way I can stand up for a bottom feeding piece of trash who makes his bucks off underage drunks.

This is the kind of thing that will follow a woman around for the rest of her life, something she did when she was young and stupid and had drinks poured down her throat. It's too bad we live in that kind of world, but we do.

I want the POS out of business.

12. You're not the only ones...
I've read that the mainstream porn industry hates Francis, too. They say he gives porn a bad name.

At least the talent in mainstream porn films gets financial compensation. IIRC, the only thing that Francis "pays" the women in his videos is a cheap T-Shirt, trucker cap, or pair of panties that probably only set his company back 3, 4, maybe 5 bucks a pop.

For the record, I have no problem with porn, so long as all participants are consenting and willing, and are in the proper state of mind to give their willingness and consent. The people involved also should be fairly compensated for their work, just like any other performer is.

Francis is a grade-A asshat.

some bias on the part of those who brought charges against Frances.

Again, I have no affinity for Francis--I am open to whatever contradictory opinions there are about him.

What I have seen in the article and from you and others here is that there is not any problem with the prosecution, that Francis is guilty. Of what? No pay; filming girls who seem to want to be filmed and being an asshole. Does the punishment fit the crime? Am I missing something?

Who cares.

You don't do what he does for a living and/or build up such a nasty reputation for yourself as he does . . .without knowing that you're going to end up in situations like these over and over again. Why is this such a mystery?

39. As someone in the legal system
do you think you get to have someone who is drunk (that in many instances you caused to be drunk) sign a contract and have that contract stick? What about the underage girls? Why exactly should we let that one slide?

No one forces them to do that, they make their own choices. They're old enough to realize the potential consequences. Yes, he's a scumbag extraordinaire, no question, but he ain't the only one at fault.

32. What about the underage ones?
What about the ones he gets drunk so that they will do those things? Even if he doesn't supply the alcohol, it doesn't take long in law school to realize that you can't enter into an enforceable contract with someone who is that shitfaced. They don't have the capacity to give consent. What if he had filmed mentally disabled girls that were of age? Would you claim the same thing?

36. I agree liberalhist. He's a bully but didn't the article say girls were at the club BECAUSE GGW was
coming? It seems they want to be in these things. I hate the commercials at night. I think it's all crazy. But if he is making money and these people want to do it, even for a t-shirt, who's to stop them?

I also think that if GGW were a new enterprise that was preying on girls and they were being drunkened up and filmed, then the outrage would be understandable. But it's been 10 years of this smut, and girls still participate. All I know is that when I was 18 I had enough sense to know what to do and what not to do. Actually, I had that kind of sense when I was 12.

You're probably not getting many responses here because some on this board find his videos VILE!!!!

If he's being shut down--it's mostly because he deserves to be shut down. He takes advantage of innocent, young girls and exploits them. His videos are sick!

Sorry...no sympathy from me about his "supposed" plight!

He SURVIVED because of all the repressed Republicans in our country! Republicans are IN NO WAY responsible for his "alleged" shut-down.

Sad truth--it must be that he's not so popular anymore!!!!! Thank GOODNESS! (Some Americans have regathered their collective minds!)

13. Point of protocol.
When you're 18 or over, drunk, and willing to flash a camera, I don't think the phrase "innocent" can still be safely used.

I'd just as soon he go away too, so that I don't have to see those dumbf--k TV commercials anymore, but best not to pretend that it's anything other than it is, which is exploitation of horniness, not innocence.

18. Perhaps, in a court of law, you'd be correct...
But as a mother and HUMAN BEING WITH FEELINGS I respectfully disagree.

1. The Drinking age in our country is for the most part 21--so if you're drunk and you're 18--some adult HAS TO BE responsible for allowing this to happen and providing the intoxicants; and
2. No young, inexperienced "drunk" person should ever be thought to be in "control" of their brain. They are far more "innocent" than the clown trying to exploit them. Unfortunately, the Courts will agree with your interpretation and that is why this CLOWN can stay out of jail and keep selling exploitive videos!

But somebody has to be buying this crap--so he can make money. Why are people doing this? It just encourages him to keep preying on youngsters! And that's where I blame the Republicans. (Because I suspect his customer base is mostly Republicans.)

Just my two cents.

Because the judge realized that he'd just make another DVD to pay off any fines.

Smart judge.

But, if people are stupid enough to drink to the point that they have no judgment, and they don't bring somebody to be their sober "guardian" to keep them out of a really bad situation, I can't really help them.

23. Sorry. I'm on the side of the township. They have a right to decide whether
that type of video should be shot in their town.

If he's done nothing illegal, he has nothing to fear. It'll cost him, but he's mega-wealthy.

He doesn't just innocently shoot videos. He preys on young, drunk women, sometimes providing ample booze to ensure they get drunk. These are your sisters, your daughters, your nieces. Sometimes young women who would not normally do such things, and sometimes they don't understand the import.

He COULD hire women for it, but he does it this way. I don't blame the township for trying to protect the young women in their area. If the women really want to be in a video like that, they can all get in a van and go to the next town.
