I understand the rw have a kinda of porno view of sexual matters - part of their voyager ways - look but don't touch or fight against what they are themselves doing - but did this spitzer guy do anything worthwhile or is he just a sleaze like the republics usually are

1. He did better as AG than he did as gov.
It's been a little rocky there and maybe he didn't have enough time. Albany politics are notoriously messy. But as AG he went afte some companies that really deserved it. In my opinion he should have stayed there (or maybe been AG in some Democratic administration).

2. Many small investors, like myself....
appreciated him cleaning up some of the corruption on WS and go after the REAL CROOKS-those folks the Bush administration wouldn't go after. May not mean much to most folks, but if you have a stock portfolio, a mutual fund, or a pension fund-for many years-Eliot Spitzer was trying to keep it a fair playing field for you. He went after Banks, Insurance Companies, HMO's, Telecoms, Hedge Funds. Thats why so many of those Rats in suits are celebrating on WS right now. Lots of folks think it was an inside set up. If he had been a private wealthy citizen making a deal (crooked or no) banks would have looked the other way. I think gotcha had a lot to do with it.

Please check this site and you will see some of his noteable case. I feel toward him like I feel with Bill Clinton-it was his own damn business. He did more to benefit the public than hurt it IMHO.

He made a lot of enemies in Corp Amerika.

3. I don't know about the rest of the people,
But I heard on AAR radio news that "Kristen" is on the way to making at least a million and counting for downloads of her music.

Ashley Alexandra Dupre (a.k.a. Kristen a.k.a. The High-Priced Escort Who Brought Down Gov. Spitzer) is no dummy. This morning, as her musical collaborators made the rounds of the morning talk shows telling people that she was trying to be a singer and not, you know, that other thing, her MySpace page came down and she added a song for sale to her Amie Street page. Why give it away when you can get paid, right?

Strange how things work sometimes.

Predatory Lenders' Partner in Crime
How the Bush Administration Stopped the States From Stepping In to Help Consumers

Several years ago, state attorneys general and others involved in consumer protection began to notice a marked increase in a range of predatory lending practices by mortgage lenders. Some were misrepresenting the terms of loans, making loans without regard to consumers' ability to repay, making loans with deceptive "teaser" rates that later ballooned astronomically, packing loans with undisclosed charges and fees, or even paying illegal kickbacks. These and other practices, we noticed, were having a devastating effect on home buyers. In addition, the widespread nature of these practices, if left unchecked, threatened our financial markets.
