2. No, I was sort of ambivalent about Craig resigning...especially after
Vitter getting a pass...they all go, or none of them go.

If every politician who visited a prostitute had to resign, we probably couldn't raise a quorum.

7. Spitzer should resign. Hiring a prostitute is inviting blackmail.
Edited on Tue Mar-11-08 10:34 AM by robcon
Craig, AFAIK, did not hire a prostitute, and did not violate any laws. Vitter should resign. McGreevey was right to resign.

9. Yes.
If you would demand his resignation if he was in another party, then absolutely.

McCain did nothing illegal.
He does not have to resign. Spitzer broke the law. He has to resign.

NY Times has it right - Spitzer betrayed the public, not just his wife:

"New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer could not have been more wrong in his brief public appearance after the world learned that he was suspected of patronizing a prostitution ring. He did not just betray his family in a private matter. He betrayed the public, and it is hard to see how he will recover from this mess and go on to lead the reformist agenda on which he was elected to office...

... His short, arrogant statement simply was not enough, not from the Sheriff of Wall Street, not from the self-appointed Mr. Clean who went to Albany promising a new and better day."

11. No
because those of us who managed to get above an 8th grade level of sex education don't care where our officials put their wee wees as long as they did their job.

did we call for FDR's resignation? NO

republicans defended a pedophile like mark foley and covered for him. if the DOJ files charges against spitzer, then they should be filing them and investigating all the bush regimes crimes. if spitzer resigns, he should do so of his own will. if he stays, he should probably be censured and left at that.

this isn't about taking the high road anymore

this is war

and the prize is america.

15. I didn't call for Vitter's resignation.
Frankly, I don't care if a politician (or anyone else) hires hookers. That said, I can totally understand if Spitzer's wife takes him to the cleaners. To me, it's a personal matter between the two of them.
