Edited on Mon Mar-10-08 07:26 PM by KoKo01
What IS IT with these men. I'm waiting to find a Female Politician "caught in a Love Triangle with either a Fellow Female or Male" caught in a STING RAID with a "House of Ill Repute!"

Is it because Female Politicians are more Discreet? Is it because there are so few? What IS IT WITH THESE MEN...who have BEAUTIFUL WIVES...SEXY...but it Never is ENOUGH?

Is it Testosterone or just POWER? How could Spitzer..."Mr. Clean Jeans" go DOWN like this?

What a disappointment...and sad for both Spitzer, his three daughters and his wife... :-(

And sometimes the desire for the kink drives them anywhere they can get it. Not excusing, just saying.

7. If you aren't getting what you need at home you might have to go elsewhere.
Maybe she couldn't or wouldn't keep up with his needs. Maybe she didn't care who he was with as long as he came home and left her alone sexually, some women are like that. What good would it be to be married to the hottest woman in the world if she had a headache every night? There are any number of explanations. Could it be he's just a cad who likes to put the notches in the belt? Sure. Men and women cheat for many different reasons.

8. There have been a few women politicos caught cheating.
Usually, though, it's as relatively low profile as male politicians of the same level cheating. No really high-profile cases like senators or governors.

13. I think it's the power -- just like rape is a crime of violence,
and sex is only the form it takes in rape. Just ask any woman who has been date-raped, ask her how that power the guy has and uses -- or ask yourself if you're a guy -- how the pressure can get steadily more forceful for the female to "put out."

Ditto with power in DC circles, where the inhabitants who find themselves through whatever mechanism (voting, appointment, or more "normal" types of employment) in a position of some significant power. Somehow, "the more you have, the more you want."

Speaking as a woman, I see the phenomenon as male politicians, from the day they first arrive in DC, finding that the addictive pull of power is something that literally "grows on them."

I do think the reason female politicians are a bit less often -- and less likely -- to be discovered having trysts or affairs outside of their marriages is that there is way more testosterone flowing through men's bodies than women's. But I suspect the affinity for power addiction is similarly gender-linked.

And then there's the aspect of "groupies," women who are drawn to powerful men to the point they will throw themselves at such men, making it difficult for them to resist! Sexy, beautiful and often young ladies offer themselves to the male politicians; and even though they might wish to resist, they break down eventually and give in to the temptation. They WANT to feel like the powerful person that drew these women to behave this way; it feels GOOD to think you are that special and a force to be reckoned with in your world.

I believe that's a longterm genetic thing as well, wherein the gender that gives birth to offspring needs a male to create the young and in many cases one to help protect both them and herself. Very basic and very strong drives involved here, in both genders.

All kinds of psych studies have demonstrated, also, that women tend to be stronger in an endurance sense, while men are stronger in brute force fashion. Women have to put up with a lot of sh*t, while men dish it out. :D

Therefore it follows logically that female politicians might well resist the temptation of affairs or one night stands with any men who might find power in HER attractive. I can't see many men, young or not, "throwing themselves" in a groupie-like fashion at women in powerful positions, but I guess it happens sometimes. More likely, however, men would be wanting to dominate a powerful woman to demonstrate that they then are yet more powerful!

It all makes perfect sense to me, the WHY of this particular phenomenon amongst politicians.

No matter which sex is involved, however, they have to KNOW that they're being monumentally stupid to take the risk of having a fling while they're "public servants" and often recognized -- and noticed.

Not to drift off on a tangent here, but I heard somewhere that while Hillary was deeply hurt by Bill's "doing" Monica, she was also just so very angry at him for being stupid on a colossal scale to have done that as the President!

Have no idea where I read or heard that, but the way I remember it, she supposedly confronted him after he'd finally admitted the truth and stopped lying about it, and asked him, demanded: "How could you be so STUPID?!" Apparently this happened, if in fact it DID happen, when they were outside their private quarters at the White House, and thus someone else witnessed the scene.

Yet even Presidents DO take such risks -- many if not most of them, apparently. None of us will ever see or think about Bill Clinton now without having that in the back of our minds, that "weakness" he had and how much damage it did to his reputation.

He is no different from any other pol or person in power in that respect, however, so I'm not "picking" on him.

Men who want more power than they have already seem to find their sense of it buoyed when they can abuse their power to pressure or compel subordinate women into "putting out."

Pretty sick, when you think about it. But it certainly goes on and on, doesn't it? *Sigh* :eyes:

16. it's one thing for a politician to cheat on his wife, but why hire prostitutes?
If the pretty young things are throwing themselves at a politician, it seems he would have every opportunity to indulge his carnal appetites without going to prostitutes. But what gets me, is all the politicians being caught with prostitutes! Why this need to pay cash to someone for sex, when they can get it free and legal?

Its not the sex that pisses me off about these politicians, its the fact that they seem to go out of their way to get it illegally.

20. Why would he have to pay all that money..."5,000! and get a "wire" when he knew? why
not find a "sympatico" that the had a "real relationship with?" If he needed something different than his wife could give him? Men who need to go to Prostitutes...seem to be folks who look for "Play for Pay" rather than a "relationship." Say's "USER" to me...and that's what Spitzer built his reputation on as a DA...being "AGAINST the BIG POWER USERS!" Much HUBRIS...it seems to me...about him... but it's still sad.

14. It's all these "type A personalities" who get elected, IMHO
NOBODY ever elected a modest, self-effacing personality for high office.

No, they elect the egoists, the self-important, the "go-getters".

Unfortunately, that group are the ones who think they can "get away with it".

Hell, the GOP was FOUNDED on that principle.

32. Maybe it "cuts both ways" on that for ego....
probably does.. Maybe some of us should just understand it's a "business transaction" with nothing else involved except "Pay for Play." For those who deal in that all their lives...it's what it is.

Not the life I would want to lead...especially if I set myself up as "ABOVE ALL THAT." But, hypocrisy kind of goes with that territory, I guess.

there's always the NEXT POWER TRIP... It's time to think about whether this really works to keep America Whole... Or, if it isn't just more fodder for Corporate McMedia to laugh and wave fingers in our face about...to make us feel small and weak..in our dull ordinary lives where we work so hard we barely have time for our kids and families and they sell "Levitra" to us for our lacking sex lives...because we have no time for anything but voyeurism...with little of ROMANCE or FANTASY..outside Victoria Secret Catalogs... :-(

is treating your wife like crap. That's why there are so many bad marriages in the White House. The good ones? TR, Coolidge, Hoover, Carter, Reagan. There you go.

the belief that they can get away with anything

I'd venture that female politicians don't get caught for a few reasons;
1) all women have to be EXTREMELY careful and discreet with extramarital relations; guys might get a treatable, coverable STD, women might get preggers

2) the already mentioned low population of female politicians

3) maybe one of those women/men general personality differences? women are more tied to the kids; I hate these theories though, they're sexist all around
