The silver lining to Gore not getting the Presidency in 2000...
Say Al Gore would have gotten the Presidency after the 2000 election (I'd have said "won" the Presidency, but he did win). This is clearly hypothetical, but say he became President and then got re-elected in 2004.

At this point, knowing what we all know now, how happy would we be right now with Joe Lieberman as the likely Democratic nominee this time around?

1. Good question.
I'm mostly okay with Lieberman and his policies. I think he'd probably make a decent president. He'd have my vote.

A Repug Trojan horse . . .

How could Gore have served with Lieberman so long and not known he was a r-w religous fanatic?

3. People are a result of their environments
Who is to say that Lieberman's personality and political beliefs may not have become more liberal as a result his tenure as VP?

I mean Hitler could have become a painter if history had differed slightly.

4. I would gladly take 8 years of Gore (and the 8 years of Lieberman that could follow)...
...if it meant we never had to go through 8 years of the illegitimate, unelected, warmongering moron.

8. Point taken.
I was more forward-thinking in this post than reflective, lol.

That's a good one.

Perhaps Joe wouldn't be as bad as he is now. He wouldn't have had to lose the Democratic nomination for reelection to the Senate and he wouldn't have had to run as an independent. He wouldn't be so cavalier towards the Democratic party and it's base.

9/11 would probably have happened anyway, but he would have been at the center of the storm with Gore and perhaps his views toward the Middle East would not be so hardened. Perhaps he would be more conciliatory towards the PA and others in the Middle East that desire real peace and not imperialism.

All kinds of what-if's in this one.
