UN-AMERICAN DEMS named here, VOTING FOR FISA IMMUNITY
Edited on Mon Mar-03-08 01:47 PM by kelligesq
The FISA Spying on Americans Bill

PLEASE SIGN THE PETITION Urging the House to stand strong unlike the Senate.

And then email the Congress Varmints here www.congress.org listed on the Roll of Dishonour at the bottom something like this:

RE: The FISA BILL
“May I suggest you resign from Congress for participating in Un-American Activity against American Citizens. As a lifelong Democratic voter and supporter, I will campaign against you at every opportunity.

co-sponsored by Greenwald together with FDL

http://action.firedoglake.com/page/petition/RestoreFISA

The Petition states the following:

The FISA bill passed by the Senate is a disgrace. By legalizing warrantless spying on Americans and granting retroactive amnesty to lawbreaking telecoms, the Senate seeks to ensure that the Bush administration's illegal spying programs are never investigated or subjected to the rule of law. The Senate bill is a profound betrayal of the votes of millions of Americans who voted in 2006 to put Democrats in control of Congress in order to increase, not eliminate, checks and oversight on this administration, and to restore the rule of law to our country.

The House's RESTORE Act is an infinitely superior bill. It provides real safeguards on the President's spying powers while providing him with the surveillance powers he needs to protect the country. It enables the issue of the legality of the President's spying programs to be decided where it belongs -- in a court of law. And it preserves the crucial balance that has existed for decades between enabiling necessary surveillance on Americans and ensuring that our political leaders do not abuse that power.

In the wake of the discovery of the Watergate crimes and decades of surveillance abuses, the Congress of the mid-1970s acted on a bipartisan basis to put into place safeguards to ensure that even our highest political officials must adhere to the law and can only exercise eavesdropping powers with real safeguards. The RESTORE Act continues that tradition, while the Senate bill eviscerates it. We urge Democratic House members to stand firm behind the bill they passed and not capitulate once again to the bullying, manipulative demands of the Bush administration for ever-greater unchecked power, as embodied by the warrantless eavesdropping and telecom immunity provisions of the Senate bill.

23. Bush subtly threatened to put his son in harm's way if he didn't cooperate.
Remember when Bush asked him, "How's your boy? That's not what I axed you. I axed you 'How's your boy?'"

5. The Battle Now Is InThe House
It'd be nice to get a list of which Congresscritters are leaning towards voting for immunity and start their phones ringing and emails overflowing...as this is the vote that matters. The Senate is done for now...the House is the last stand and the pressure needs to be applied to the Blue Dogs and weak knees that are about to cave in to boooooshie's tantrums and crimes.

7. THE PETITION IS FOR THE HOUSE - how bout reading it? :)
but naming those in the SEnate who have voted for it means you can and
should know who they are and how they are voting....and telling them
you're going to work to defeat them when they run

9. Just Trying To Avoid Confusion...
Unfortunately there are some here who can't tell the difference between a Senator or a Representative...or how the byzantine process works. While it's important we don't forget the Senators who sold out on this, the focus has to be on the House and pressure on those who are about to cave in. We can pick on the traitors to our privacy in the Senate in the ballot box and pocketbook...but for now, gotta keep the eye on the ball here. Reyes is only one of 20 or so Congresscritters who need to hear from those who care to prevent this regime from avoiding taking responsibility for the widespread spying and violations of civil rights.

10. Thanks Sinking Feeling, now here's the next step -
if you or anyone else has posting privileges on DU groups,
go to your State and post the whole petition with the same heading or for instance

Sen. Jay Rockefeller UN-AMERICAN, votes for illegal spying- VOTE HIM OUT
find a GOOD dem to replace him.

or something like that.

need to do it in every state where "New World Order" demopublican's named:puke:

:spank: so people in that state know about it and can work/vote against

him/her

28. Look the real question here is, do we want to spend millions hauling dozens of people to trial
Also, keep in mind that a government run lynch squad on the telecom industry isnt exactly friendly to the economy, especially when the bottoms falling out.

With that said, I disagree with their votes. Let the bastards hang imo. But I understand why it cant be done economically at this time.

30. ATT is hurting financially? you kidding me? no pity for them - did you
see your telephone service for plain local calling go from $9.00 to $42.00 ?

puhleez. That's one industry that is not hurting at all....but they're trying to hurt you - cutting into internet business, demanding taxation, no free phone calling on net, filtering of what sites you will be able to log onto......

and its your taxpayer money paying them to spy on you and violate your freedom of speech and liberty BRAK  :bounce:
