The rumors are true, Omaha Steve no more (temp)

I've known for some time this was coming. I'll be on hiatus for several weeks starting March 21st. I'm having surgery as a result of an injury on the job on Dec. 17th. IF I was under OSHA regulations, my employer would be paying some kind of fine. I work for the City of Omaha. We are responsible to the state. The city has nothing to worry about.

I'm not looking ahead to this. I hope I'm not a worst case scenario when the surgeon is done. My MRI wasn't clear???

Regards from a blue collar among the blue party,

Omaha Steve

I hope they're taking care of your pain and managing your meds, too. Do you have a good internist to manage it all and do the follow up with?

Be gentle with yourself. Surgery's hard on the body.

23. (((Steve)))
I wish you the best of luck. I'm sure that everything will be fine and I'm sure glad that you were covered on the job.

I say this while typing with one hand, due to rotator cuff surgery caused by a fall and I am pretty sure also by 14 years of repetitive movements (casing mail) causing my tendons to weaken. I am going to file a workmans comp claim as I think that it was, in large, caused by my job.

Keep us posted. Could you wife sign in and give us an update?

30. yeah, I think that it is a fairly common injury
I know of many fellow letter carriers who have had it done. If you are an avid reader of things that you're going through, as I am, here is an excellent website
http://www.panoramaortho.com/cgi-bin/eOrtho.pl?category=6

Hopefully, they can do yours arthroscopically, as the recovery time is much faster.

Good luck and I hope your surgury and recovery goes well.

36. Good luck with the surgery...
I almost wish my problem was a result of an on-the-job injury, but, then again, I've dealt with L and I before and am possibly better off dealing with it myself. Wish I was making money, which I would be on L and I, but it helps not having to jump through some of their stupid hoops.

focus on your healing, and let everything else "slide", no worries! Have yourself plenty of Vitamin C and Calcium, that'll promote good, clean healing...we'll miss you, but you go get those bad pains on the run, friend.

in the meantime you have a few weeks to pack your hospital bag

good luck with everything. don't let it get you too majorly stressed out.

56. I got hurt on the job on Dec. 17th

I had to jump through some hoops including a doctor that said I wasn't hurt. He didn't need an MRI. When my shoulder started dwelling up almost a month after the accident, I got the MRI. I won't be able to type with 2 hands for several weeks. It all depends on how much they have to do.
