Right Wing site urges people to post on DU!
23 General Category / General Discussion / Re: SPREAD THE WORD on: March 18, 2007, 04:11:23 PM
How about a list of boards that have threads posted to them?

Here are the ones I know about:

Civis Proeliator posted on Free Republic.

Rev.DeadCorpse posted on AR-15.com

Patrick A. Krott posted on Ted Nugent's Talkback board.

I think we should keep an active list of boards that we.ve told about this. That way no one will assume something like, "Oh well, Joe always posts on Glocktalk, so he must have posted a thread there." Besides, someone will think of a board that everyone else forgot.

I'll start. Who would like to post the threads on democraticunderground.com and dailycos.com?

24 General Category / General Discussion / Re: Gun Shows? on: March 18, 2007, 03:55:00 PM
I can do that. Palm Beach County and Broward County (Fort Lauderdale) have plenty of gun shows. I work weekends, but I can get some Saturdays off. Of course, this will be quite a bit in the future. Did you take a look at the How to Organize A Protest thread I posted?

25 General Category / General Discussion / Re: Mission statement on: March 18, 2007, 04:

This website is called Savethe2nd.org

And some people still wonder whether trolls are on DU to post about only ONE subject!

5. No surprises here.
Someone posted a message on "Guns" yesterday that made mention of "AR receivers" and building up a stock of them.

Well, where I come from, when people start talking about AR(AR-15) receivers and buying a bunch of them, it is usually to mod them to full auto. I felt that message hewed well past the invisible line of acceptible content and subject matter. Apparently, some did not agree.

But trolls with agendas? We are stiff with them.

26. Its quite common...
Its quite common for people to build thier own AR from the reciever up.

What you are talking about, manufacturing a fully automatic weapon, will land you in club fed for a ten year stint.

Its actually pretty widespread among the precision shooting crowd.

Are you saying there are actually R/W pro-gunners who pretend to be Democrats and merely SAY they are Democrats to try to prevent other Democrats from embracing a pro-gun control stance?

Never! This is the Internet and everyone is EXACTLY who they say they are.

27. Why would they do such a thing?
For every vote a Democrat gains from a gun owner, a repub loses a vote.

Why would a repub come to DU to try and change any Democrats to the pro-gun position?

I could see posing as an anti-gunner to make us look bad though.

convincing Democrats to drop the gun control issue.

And the funny part is that no matter how pro-gun a Democrat becomes, the NRA et al will STILL fight them at the polls:

33. Um, Sen. Clinton is not pro-gun, by any stretch.
Her voting record shows that. The NRA not liking her is like NARAL not liking Huckabee.

There are pro-gun Democrats. The NRA endorses them. The problem is that there aren't many of them.

If we, as a party, could past the gun-control albatross, and embrace *all* civil rights, we would be much better off. Many gun owners vote Republican based on that issue alone, when they'd prefer to vote for a Democrat on the rest of the platform. We've made it all too easy to paint us as the party that espouses "turn them in", based on a few nutjobs in Congress. Fixing that would take a major support group from the Republicans.

47. Yup. For all the reasoning some "liberal" gun people do....
It's still largely a Right Wing agenda and nothing will satisfy the gun lobby but social conservatism and more money for gun manufacturers. Gun sales have gone down in the past few years,so the geniuses with the conservative think tanks are trying to find ways to get more women to buy guns...especially single women with kids. They're absolutely demonic. Instead of "terra", they use "Danger"!.

i have posted with republicans and i have seen this mentality. i was thinking of this today per a thread and i gotta say, i have not seen a lot of interest to disrupt the opposing boards in all the years i have been on du but have consistently seen republican advocate this behavior. it is odd. it is childish. but the worse, .... they play a gotcha game and they are the only ones playing. i dont give a fuck if they post here, if i interact with what they say in a serious conversation when they are merely playing a game. i am not playing. weird. and childish

28. Republicans like paul helmke - president of the Brady Campaign
Paul Helmke has served as President of the Brady Campaign/Center to Prevent Gun Violence since mid-July 2006. Prior to this, Helmke was a lawyer in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where he served as mayor from 1988-2000.

Helmke was President of the United States Conference of Mayors in 1997-1998 and served on the Board of the National League of Cities. He is a past-President of the Indiana Association of Cities and Towns and the national Republican Mayors and Local Officials organization. Helmke was the Republican nominee for the United States Senate in Indiana in 1998.

To which I replied "Republicans like paul helmke - president of the Brady Campaign" implying that he too has the mentality of a preteen. Thats the bash.

I then went on to provide ample proof that nhe was what I said he was - that being a repuke - hence the sharing of his resume.

22. I have already gotten one of them tombstoned.
I visit a very small board that was created when MSNBC shut down theirs. It started with a good mix of left right and middle, but over time the board owner has seen fit to ban pretty much everyone but the worst of the RW whackjobs. I think they keep the 4 or 5 non whackjobs around just to keep if from getting too awful boring. (10 straight pages of Clenis gets boring even for whackjobs)

Anyhoo, of of those little suckers infiltrated DU and, being a RW Moran used the same name he used on the other board. I sent the mods links to his posts on the other board and within minutes he was doin the dirt nap.

Almost as good as having 2 DUers inform me I'm on thier ignore list! TWO!!!! (Whooohooo!) :)

...the guns forum (I never read it). I like the gun laws that we Americans enjoy, and I appreciate the 2nd amendment. I don't really think most Americans are gun-wackadoos. I actually think that there might be some counseling options for Americans who are obsessed with the 2nd Amendment.
There really are more important things:
