The latest GOP swift-boating e-mail circulating...
Hey guys & gals...

I need your help, I recently received another piece of BS propoganda that I would like you help on debunking. I intend to formulate my response to the e-mail based on your help. Here is what is in the e-mail:

Subject: FW: The truth of Taxation.....READ BEFORE YOU VOTE!
Date: Mon, 11 Feb 2008 20:13:54 +0000

If this doesn’t make you want to RUN out and vote, nothing will !!!!!!

“After watching a focus group of democrats that watched the democratic debate the other day in Vegas, I was very upset!

For the most part, all of them bashed Bush over and over again on how he is out for his millionaire friends and the big oil companies and he has totally forgotten or disregarded the little guy.

So being an ex-IRS employee, I decided to look back on the tax tables to see if there is any truth to what they said and the media keeps stating as fact, "Bush is only out for the rich in this country."

Based on using the actual tax tables (see link below), here are some examples on what the taxes were/are on various amounts of income for both singles and married couples. So, let's see if the Bush tax cuts only helped the rich

http://www.taxfoundation.org/publications/show/151.html ß CHECK IT OUT, IT’S FACT!

Taxes under Clinton 1999 Taxes under Bush 2008

Single making 30K - tax $8,400 Single making 30K - tax $4,500

Single making 50K - tax $14,000 Single making 50K - tax $12,500

Single making 75K - tax $23,250 Single making 75K - tax $18,750

Married making 60K - tax $16,800 Married making 60K- tax $9,000

Married making 75K - tax $21,000 Married making 75K - tax $18,750

Married making 125K - tax $38,750 Married making 125K - tax $31,250

If you want to know just how effective the mainstream media is, it is amazing how many people that fall into the categories above think Bush is screwing them and Bill Clinton was the greatest President ever. The problem is they are simply wrong.

If any democrat is elected, ALL of them say they will repeal the Bush tax cuts and a good portion of the people that fall into the categories above can't wait for it to happen!

This is like the movie the Sting with Paul Newman, you scam somebody out of some money and they don't even know what happened. Now, this is effective (not honest) marketing. Or maybe a better word is brain washing.

PASS THIS ON.........

Please help me stick it to the person who sent this when I do a reply to all people who received this. Thanks!

Edited on Wed Feb-27-08 10:31 AM by madokie
cause there is very little chance you will make them see the light so you're just wasting your time, time that prolly could be used for more important things. just saying ;-) I say forget the debunking and blow 'em off but thats just me.
I find that with age I no longer feel I have the time nor patience for bullshit

add: I got that email a while back so I've seen it before and I took my own advice too;-)

5. I understand that, its the principle thingy
I have those kind too. In fact we went to visit some friends who I don't talk politics with to start with because no place in friendship for politics or religion for that matter, but I had to leave when time for the news came and I noticed the teevee was switched to the fox channel. No way could I set there and what that bull and no way would I friendship survive my watching it with them. Yes they are both professional ppl who are doing good for themselves but they have no idea of what is really going on in the world and its mostly because of their watching fox network for news, I think.

3. try this...
http://www.factcheck.org/taxes/supply-side_spin.html

also, those are marginal tax rates, not effective...they don't account for deductions credits etc. Furthermore, we have yet to see what hell the past 8 years of spending like a deadhead with daddy's credit card have wrought (my apologies to deadheads everywhere), but see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_debt_by_U.S._presidential_terms for info on that...

4. Have your "close, ignorant 'friend'" read this
or, better yet, read it to him and explain about effective tax rates:

{a small sample in pictures, you owe it to yourself to read the whole piece}

Subject: FW: The truth of Taxation.....READ BEFORE YOU VOTE!1

If this doesn’t make you want to RUN out and vote, nothing will !!1!!!

“After watching a focus group of republics that watched the republic debate the other day in Reno, I was very upset!1

For the most part, all of them bashed Clinton over and over again on how he is out for poor folks and small businesses, and he has totally forgotten or disregarded the mega-corporations.

So being an ex-IRS employee, I decided to look back on the tax tables to see if there is any truth to what they said and the media keeps stating as fact, "Clinton is only out help the poor in this country."

Based on using the actual tax tables (see link below), here are some examples on what the taxes were on various amounts of income for both singles and married couples. So, let's see if the Clinton tax schedule helped the working poor.

Taxes under Bush 1991 Taxes under Clinton 2000

Single making 30K - tax $8,400 Single making 30K - tax $500

Single making 50K - tax $14,000 Single making 50K - tax $1,500

Single making 75K - tax $23,250 Single making 75K - tax $2,750

Married making 60K - tax $16,800 Married making 60K- tax $3,000

Married making 75K - tax $21,000 Married making 75K - tax $4,750

Married making 125K - tax $38,750 Married making 125K - tax $6,250

http://goatse.cz CHECK IT OUT, IT’S FACT!1

If you want to know just how effective the rightwing neofascist hate radio is; it is amazing how many people that fall into the categories above think Clinton is screwing them when he hasn't been in office for years. The problem is they are simply inbred dumb asses.

If any republik!1 is elected, ALL of them say they will repeal the Clinton tax schedule and a good portion of the people that fall into the categories above will be fucked!1

This is like the movie the "Bedtime for Bonzo" with Ronald Raygun; you scam somebody out of thinking for themselves and they don't even know what happened. Now, this is effective (but not intelligent) propaganda. Or maybe a better word is brain dead.

THANK U JAYSUS!1 PASS THIS ON TO REPUBLIKS!!1
