Well, we've left out political. And obviously, that's going to be a major, major part of the CBS Corporation next year. Our TV stations, the money is beginning to come in. Obviously, the primaries have been moved up, so February 5 becomes a very, very important date and as a result we're getting money in November, December, certainly in January, money that we wouldn't have seen till later on. And we're seeing a very robust amount of money being spent. We like the fact that there are a number of candidates. We like the fact that there's a number of candidates with ha lot of money behind them. We do not want political reform.

1. The broadcasters are a powerful lobby &they will stop campaign spending limits
Every $100 million dollars raised in a campaign means another $100 million in receipts for them. We must break up the broadcasting trusts.

It's criminal that they were allowed to develop in the first place. Jefferson is spinning like a top.

3. These Are The Real Primary Winners...
CBS is in a world of hurt...last place among networks and in the middle of recession that is sucking away advertising revenues and the on-going competition from cable, DVDs and the internet. This elongated primary season has been one bright spot in the corporate coffers...and it's not an easy issue to tackle.

Broadcasting has long sucked off of elections...and attempting to regulate or even come up with a "fair" system is difficult at best. If you limit what a campaign can spend, you face court cases of First Ammendment infringement...attempt to force stations to low rates for campaign advertising and they'll make up for the shortfall with more ads...force them to carry ads for "all" candidates and you then have to define what a candidate is and how the time is divided...is it fair for a marginal candidate to get as much time as one who has considerable support? It's a battle that I suspect will never be settled.

What's more telling here is how CBS really needs this money this year...and how this is going to be a big "boon" to the network. Well, Les...what happens after November? Nah...he doesn't want to go there.
