WHNT-TV (station Siegelman blackout) is owned by close Bush ally. Robert Bass...

Oak Hill Capital controls Local TV, a holding company that owns WHNT-TV in Huntsville, Alabama!

Robert Bass, a classmate and ally of President George W. Bush is the main investor in Oak Hill Capital!

Yeah, "technical difficulties" MY ASS!

Those shits did it on purpose!

Even if the suspicion that they did it on purpose ISN'T true, the fact that this guy who is so closely connected to the President owns this station is bad ENOUGH ON ITS OWN!

The fact that we think this is even possible, says more about them than it does us. Is it really over the line for people who torture to do something simple like this?

Maybe this is a warning shot, it's a damn powerful message if it is.

We own you, now get lost.

Someone knows what happened last night, and they have enough skillz to hack a website.

3. This is definitely a big deal.
It's obvious why it happened now. It's so petty! Why not just do the whole show?

I think we are meant to know who did it, as a sign of their power.

6. They should have their broadcast license revoked.
Give it to someone who is willing to uphold their constitutionally mandated duty to inform the public.

7. How's that going to happen when they've captured the FCC or for that matter the whole government?
If we don't watch it, they can't make money off of advertising on it.

We need to start looking to methods of direct democratic action to bring down the oligarchy in control of America.

8. Are FCC chairman positions for life? If not, fire them and replace them with sane folks.
Folks who aren't invested in the companies they're supposed to regulate and folks who don't believe the best form of regulation is no regulation at all.

9. The problem is that another Republican will get elected someday and do it all over again.
Unless we address the actual problem, the people who own it all, then we're only treating the symptom, the corrupt regulator.

10. Well, then it's gonna be a political solution. An example would be...
taking the discretionary power away from the FCC by passing a law like the Fairness Doctrine or enforcing anti-trust law against monopolies. The FCC would have no discretion in those situations. They'd have to act.

15. Yes, but what happens if the FCC doesn't follow the laws? Or a Republican Congress...
repeals the laws?

Didn't we already see this movie before, don't we know how it ends?

I plan on taking these people down with whatever little power I have as a human being on Earth.

I say we call their bullshit and push for a REAL free market, not the fixed market as it currently is.

18. Well, the answer is in your post.
Break the monopoly whenever Dems do get control. Forget the Fairness Doctrine if it will be repealed several years later then.

17. My thoughts exactly. Should have a big campaign to do so!
If the FCC doesn't do it's job to take away their broadcast license, then put the FCC people on notice as well!

11. Playing devil's advocate here
Edited on Mon Feb-25-08 12:50 PM by Fighting Irish
But I'm under the impression that equity firms really don't get too involved in the everyday running of broadcast properties. The most these firms usually do is slash costs to maximize their value.

And did Local TV nix the report on their three other CBS affiliates?

WHNT did replay the segment on their evening news last night, and have it featured prominently on their site. If the station is hungry for ratings, and I'm sure they are, no way would they ignore such a huge local story on a national broadcast. Most stations would be hyping the shit out of it.

I will say the Bush connection is interesting, though...
