This McCain Scandal Stinks of a Rovian Plot
Edited on Wed Feb-20-08 09:36 PM by Yavin4
What better way to cheaply get the nomination to Romney, and we all know that Rove hates McCain's guts.

On edit:

As I think more about this, who else would even have this stuff other than Rove? More than likely, this is Opposition Research from the 2000 campaign.

Now, I don't think that it will work, but you never know.

1. Who am I to complain...
when the GOP cannibalizes their own?

Maybe if we're lucky, McCain will drop out, nobody else comes out ahead in delegates, and it's the GOP that has a brokered convention and a big messy floor fight.

2. Romney polls even worse against our candidates than McCain...
so if that happens, fine by me.

McCain is a piece of shit.

7. Remember the first allegations came out 10 years ago and
they were buried. It happened when McCain was running agianst * so it is entirely possible that Rove was involved then.

16. He Endorse BEFORE the Sexual Scandal
Heck, Rove even wrote a check to McCain. Now, Romney looks like the good Republican soldier who will carry the mantle of his party after the disgraced McCain.

11. Who Else Would Have This Opposition Research?
None of the other Republican candidates would because McCain was pretty much a non-factor until N.H. Then, it would be too late to do the opp research. No Dem candidate would have it.

This crap was sitting in Rove's safe since the 2000 campaign.

12. Definitely For Mittens
Remember he pulled out because of money. Rove came to him with a plan to get the nomination without spending another dime.

Romney suspended his campaign.
Romney can not get enough votes for the nomination.

18. If This Scandal Has Legs, McCain Would Have To Drop Out
Repubs already have a sitting president with a 19% approval rating, and now, they may have a sexual/lobbying scandal haunting their nominee.

For the good of the party, McCain may have to step down. The coming week will tell if this Rove plot worked or not.

It's gotta be either The Huckwad or The Paultard.

20. I can't help but think this is the reason for the gross Bush hug back in 2000
but now? I don't know. How would this work in Rove's world? Would the delegates switch their vote at the GOP convention? Can they do that?? It just occurred to me how little I know how things are done during their primary.

I find it interesting that this is breaking when McCain has this many delegates. Why not two months earlier? Why not during the GE? This tells me the news is meant to hurt the GOP, not to benefit the Democrats. I find this very interesting.

22. Answers to Your Questions
<<Would the delegates switch their vote at the GOP convention?>>

McCain drops out, and releases his delegates at the convention.

<<Why not two months earlier?>>

According to MSNBC, the New York Times sat on the story. Who knows what other media passed on the story.

<<Why not during the GE? >>

This is about the Repub nomination, not the general.

<<This tells me the news is meant to hurt the GOP, not to benefit the Democrats. >>

This is meant to get McCain to drop out of the race.

24. Interesting....
I think you're right about the goal. I still think they should have done this right before Super Tuesday though. It seems odd to release the information now if the goal is to get McCain out of the race. He's denying it so I don't see him step down any time soon unless the lobbyist writes a tell all.
