1. I've hired Tom Ridge as a personal body guard.
He makes me feel safe from those nasty terrorists, plus he helps bring the groceries in as well.

29. I'm glad he's found gainful employment...
Nice guy... A little slow on the uptake, but eager to please.

I tried to give him a full-time job (with benefits, mind you) as a doorstop, plant stand, pillow for the cats, poker table legs, overdue bill notice shredder, laundry folder, driveway shoveler, plant waterer and cat box cleaner, but he just didn't seem to be able to work unsupervised. Definitely not self-motivated. I'm not sure he has enough on the ball to work without being micro managed.

I even tried to get him to do some painting, but he's apparently partially color blind and can only see green, yellow, orange and red -- which explains a lot about certain quirks he developed in his previous job. Anyway, after a couple of months of this, I had to let him go. He took it pretty hard; had that hang-dog look we used to see on TV every time he had to lower the alert level.

So I'm glad to see he hooked on at the local supermarket. Just as long as he doesn't get lost on his way from the parking lot back to the store. Maybe he can drop a trail of green and yellow jelly beans to guide him on the return trip.

10. And The Most Scared Shit Are In The Least Likely Targets
Somehow I don't see Osama and his pals sitting in a cave salivating at the destruction of Omaha or unleashing a dirty bomb on Salt Lake City...but its amazing how scared shit repugnicans are about how some A-rab will fly a plane into their pointy little heads.

The delicious ironies is how all these John Wayne types talk big about our military (yet most never served) and how we can bomb the world into submission, but say the word "terrorist" and you have to scrape 'em off the ceiling. The reds under the bed are now replaced by dark-skinned people in mustaches.

13. Yup -- the poopy pants demographic
As "the events of 9/11(tm)" revealed, there are tens of millions of swaggering, rugged individualist wannabes out there in red state America living closeted, fear-saturated lives of doom and desperation. Despite their carefully crafted studly images, they spend much of their time alone pooping their pants over the ambient dread that the dark forces of unspeakable evil are in place and just waiting for the order to murder them in their beds – horribly, painfully and brutally -- and then make it look like suicide so their families can't collect double from the life insurance company.

Because most of these nouveau-cowards have no common sense and aren't the sharpest knives in the drawer either, they actually trust the Bush administration to protect them from these nightmares. Or at least they did until Democrats developed a foolproof method to woo them away from the GOP by the millions.

Turns out Democratic strategists have been going after the huge neo-invertebrate vote since the day Pelosi declared impeachment off the table. Which explains the way Democrats have acted as the majority party -- appearing weak, cowardly or complicit, caving in every time the GOP or the administration raised a threatening eyebrow. It was all an act -- just part of their 2008 election strategy.

They figured they couldn't win the real tough guys over -- the 372 of them still standing, by latest estimate -- so they decided that the old "look at us; we're tough on terror, too" message wasn't going to get it this time around.

Instead, they developed messages of treachery and cowardice designed to capture the loyalty of spineless dweebs everywhere -- focusing on all those lantern-jawed, squinty-eyed, cowboy hat-wearing Marlboro men from the Montana rangeland to the West Texas honky tonks who have a little "Depends moment" every time a firecracker goes off or who dive under the bar when a car backfires.

Let's hope the strategy works, because otherwise they'll have completely wasted their opportunity to nail US history's most corrupt, criminal and malevolent executive branch. And they'll be back to meeting in dimly lit supply rooms in the Capitol basement while the GOP laughs its ass off -- again.

15. I'm Amazed At How Scared People Are
I run into many who have this 9/11 phobia that has both overblown what occured that day and what it really meant. Of course, this fear was ramped up by the booosh regime that couldn't have asked for a better strawman in bin Laden and a new "Pearl Harbor" to bring their cold war games out of the closet with a new spin. No longer was it Russians with nukes, it was A-rabs with boxcutters.

Some fears are justified. This country could and will suffer another terrorist attack. But it may just come from our own terrorists rather than some guy wishing for the 72 virgins. However, the fear card is starting to wear out...finally...and the political dynamic is changing as well.

Democrats have long been a box...both of their own design and framed by the corporate media...of being weak on national defense and terror...and have yet to get ahead of the curve on where the American people are on this issue. Many of us refuse to live in fear and are tired of the chickenshits and chicken littles running from any little threat...real or imagined. I refuse to give up my civil liberties to be "safer" at the hands of a regime that exploits it for their own profit. But then I was one of the 9% who felt boooshie was a fuck-up at the height of his popularity and still see a country that is confused and divided.

11. So why does fear work so well on the superduperholyrollers who love Bush so?
If these people truly believed in what they shoveled, wouldn't they be welcoming their trip to the pearly gates? Just another example of mass mind control and hypocrisy in action. Those that come across as morally strong are mortally weak.

14. There's no option for "imprison him."
I'm more afraid of dying a slow, lingering death from no health care rather than having Osama sneak through the back door in the middle of the night.

or fear of terrorists.

so to adequately rate my fear, it is nil, nada, nothing, zero, not there. no fear.

if i lived in dc or ny or la it might make the meter go to 1, possibly 2 out of 10, but then fear of mugger or other criminal would be well higher in my fear factor.

26. I do have fear.....fear of gwb. All this talk lately of terrorists. On one
hand, if we were to have something bad happen, it's occurrence would appear as if somehow the administration had failed. But now, on the other hand, gwb has the perfect in because he's telling us we're more vulnerable without the immunity for the telecoms resulting in their reluctance to aid his administration. I wouldn't put anything past this adminstration....I have my tinfoil hat firmly in place. He has warned us so be prepared. And, what ever happened to those lose nukes from Minot,ND?

...Chimpy's telling the truth here. He did however, forget to mention that these terrorists are right here in the U.S. They are the same fascist thugs who illegitimately seized power in 2000, retained it by similar fraudulent means in 2004, and will likely treat us to another national election theft in November of this year.

I wonder if Chimpy had that "if they only knew" smirk on his face as he delivered this address.

Most of us know who the real terrorists are, Chimpy:

It's a safe bet that someone somewhere is planning an attack on someone sometime. Bush is using this a smoke screen to avoid dealing with more pressing issues.
