2. Hence the reason for his sudden flight to Jordan.
And since we can't believe anything spokesmen say about the condition of a national leader, it'll be a while before it's known for sure if it's something he'll recover from well or not... do I have this about right?

14. Look who else is in Oman, arriving today
Cheney arrives in Persian Gulf for talks

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates - Vice President Dick Cheney landed in the U.S.-allied Arab monarchy of Oman on Sunday and went directly to talks with its foreign minister, Omani government officials said.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20070225/en_afp/iraqpresidenttalabani_070225195935

What's interesting about this is that, when the news broke about Cheney's plane being diverted to Singapore late last night, his plane was enroute back to the US, NO mention of him going to the Persian Gulf.

7. I wonder if he was feeling "toxic".
People have strokes and heart attacks every day, but with this crowd, you just gotta put on your tin hat and wonder.

10. Another echo of Vietnam?
Remember Ngo Din Diem?

"On November 1, 1963, with only the palace guard remaining to defend President Diệm and his younger brother, Ngô Đình Nhu, the generals called the palace offering Diệm safe exile out of the country if they surrendered. But that evening, they snuck out of the palace through an underground passage to Cholon, where they were captured the following morning, November 2. The brothers were executed in the back of an armored personnel carrier that was taking them to Vietnamese Joint General Staff headquarters."

18. Talibani's a head of state, not head of the cabinet
That would be the Prime Minister, al-Maliki. So Talibani dying in and of himself would not be anything like Diem, who had complete executive power in the hands of his presidency, falling.

In and of itself that is. It certainly shakes Kurdish politics up and, who would replace the man?

13. Is he glowing yet?
Tin Foil tells me the US hasn't been very happy with him lately. Is this really a surprise?

I don't think this administration has a clue. In Iraq backing the Shia seems to be practical for the Bush gang who will take any side they thing will lead to "stability." But aligning with the Shia is pissing off the Saudi's who don't want the Sunni's destroyed. They have opened Pandora's box and the whole region seems to be sliding towards the abyss.
