So we can't buy Canadian drugs 'cause they are not up to standards. Or just a double standard?

In what must be a devastating insult to the Canadian's with whom we are protected against their unsafe drugs,
WJS, reports that American drug companies can have you swallowing anything dragged out of the Yangtze cesspool without even an inspection. Why go to all the expense of inspections and testing, when it's not necessary (plenty of 2 legged guinea pig willing to pay for the privilege) . So, now that people are falling over dead, they'll take a look. It's nice to know the FDA has our best interest at heart.

The FDA in a statement Wednesday night said the agency hadn't inspected the Chinese facility. "While no FDA inspection of the facility has been conducted to date, preparations are being made to perform an inspection as soon as possible. We have already requested expedited access to the facility, facilitated through a recently signed agreement with the Chinese State Food and Drug Administration. FDA also has requested the facility's inspectional data and adverse event reports connected to the product," an agency spokeswoman said in an emailed statement that she confirmed by phone.

1. You think we have huge drug factories over here?
Most of our drugs come from the US and the ones that don't are manufactured by US drug companies with US production patents.

Moreover, our Health Protection Branch is modeled on the FDA, with standards that are just as good or better than the FDA's.

So, all those people who cross the border to buy "Canadian" drugs are actually buying their own country's products.

The only difference? There might be some French labeling on the outside of the box.

3. Sometimes the pills look different
Prilosec came in a tablet instead of a big capsule, for instance. However, ordering it from Canada meant I could afford the stuff, something that didn't happen here while they were trying to stall the generic and keep their main moneymaker.

I've gotten meds from both Canada and Mexico and have found very little difference, otherwise. Oh, asthma inhalers from Mexico don't have quite as much propellant in them, but big woop, it lasts until the medicine's gone.

By the way, if you think your drugs are being made here, think again. Drug manufacturing is being offshored along with everything else. If I'm not mistaken, Lipitor is all made in the Irish Republic. Other drugs are being made in China and Eastern Europe, scary.

5. Generics are usually made in Quebec.
Other than that, the drugs are mostly what you take.

The reason they're cheaper? Because we have limits on drug prices and the pharmacy charges a flat dispensing fee. Oh, yeah, and we don't allow advertising for prescription drugs either.

The US is the only country in the entire world with no limits on drug pricing.

We just figure it's another way the corporatocracy gouges the consumer down there.
