There's an interesting show on c-span 1right now. Yea, I know,
Tony Snow is moderating it, but 4 or 5 reporters are answering questions about their job, how and why they ask the questions they do, and all the hate emails they get. David Gregory, Richard Wolfe, someone from AP, someone from the Urban Press, and I probably forgot a few.

Iwas surprised to hear that every one of them said they read all their emails, and thatNO snail mail is delivered to the WH!

The show is called "Covering the Bush Presidency".

1. Snail mail to the WH is opened at various sites. The folks at the Old Soldiers and Airmen's Home...
open some. I think they took care of Socks's mail.

But snail mail does not get directly into the White House and hasn't for some time.

2. The reason that tidbit struck me was that I've seen several people
on DU saydon't bother with email becasue there's so much of it, nobody pays any attention. I have seen them recommend snail mail because it shows you took the time to do it. I'vequestioned that idea for quite a while, but it was still a bit strange when I heard Tony Snow say it. He wasn't even talking about hate mail at the time. He said some reporter friend had sent him an invitation to an event, and called because he hadn't received any response and the event was that week. Tony said he never received the invitation because "mail" simply is NOT delivered to the WH!

3. I had it on...it was OK. The one on Walter Reed is pretty revealing.
The snail mail goes to a sniffing facility and is opened offsite. Best way to get ahold of them IS either email or fax.

Some mail does go to the WH, though, but it goes to the house of a designated staffer who brings it from home. You have to be "in the know" to know who to send it to.

It's like Laura Bush's catalogue and online purchases. She's got the fake name credit card, and the stuff goes to the house of a staffer who brings it in to work.

4. I send those pre-stamped postcards. You have one side to type comments and they can tell...
there's nothing 'in' it.

5. I started a thread on this a few days ago when I saw it. Complete and
utter pap.

Really made me sick at the fawning over both Snow and themeselves.

total timewaster. not one decent insight into the Emperor Without Any Clothes

these are the rich suckasses who have kept him in power for six years

they're WORSE than all the pugs combined
