email from Bob Lord post Shady Shadegg's announcement or retirement to put eggs/food on his family

Dear Friend,

What exciting news! In case you haven't seen the big news, John Shadegg just announced that he will not run for re-election and is retiring. This means that this campaign is positioned perfectly for a huge win in November. We will take back this seat for the citizens of Arizona. Help us make this amazing dream happen by contributing as generously as you possibly can. (Contribute Now)

This will be one of the top campaigns to watch in 2008 and its all happening right here in our back yard! There are a couple of reasons why the hottest campaign in Arizona just got even more exciting!

1. There will likely be a contentious primary on the Republican side, which will leave the eventual GOP nominee's bank account empty after the primary. Voting in the general election starts one month after that primary. This puts their nominee in a serious disadvantage because they will have little money and little time to run a general election. On the other hand, we will continue our successful fundraising efforts; putting all of our resources into defeating the Republican nominee. Will you be part of this winning team? A gift of $35, $75, $100 or more will help put me over the top again this quarter! (Contribute Now)

2. Both the Arizona Republican Party and the National Republican Congressional Campaign (NRCC) are facing serious financial shortfalls, while the Arizona Democratic Party and Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) have been reporting record fundraising totals. The DCCC currently has an approximately 10-to-1 cash-on-hand advantage over the NRCC. Neither the state GOP nor the national GOP will be able to give full financial support to their eventual nominee. We have a fundraising advantage today, but we need to keep that lead. Can you help us keep that edge?

The bottom line is that with a year of campaigning under our belt and successful 2007 fundraising numbers, we are perfectly positioned to win in 2008.

This election is about the future of Arizona and our great country.

Thanks for all your support.

PS - We got more good news today: The National Education Association just endorsed my candidacy! This is a huge step in our march toward November. Keep the good news flowing by giving generously right now! (Contribute Now)
