Poll question: Is the tiff between Hannity/Limbaugh/Coulter and McCain Genuine or a Ruse?
Just curious what people think on this one.

1. They Really, Really Hate McCain
It's not just the illegal immigration or stem cell research or McCain-Feingold that has the hate radio nuts all aflutter. Few remember it was McCain who stood in the way of a large Dereg package going through a couple years ago...part of which Kevin Martin rammed through the commission last December. That delay cost companies like Faux billions as they put down offers on properties or LMAs and weren't able to seal the deal.

4. They will rally around him in the end..
I think they have genuine dislike for some of his policies, but he is such a warhawk that it will lessen the hatred for McCain's more "liberal" (so called) positions. Hannity spasms with joy at pro-Iraq talk from politicians like McCain. Hannity will back him up in the end due to the 80 percent conservative voting record and the fear of Clinton/Obama. Limbaugh will harbor the most long term hate because he admitted it was a personal issue with him and McCain. Coulter has gone so far batshit crazy that nobody puts any stock into her opinion anymore.

5. Ruse. Think of the right wing media as professional wrestling.
It's one big profitable show, only this one is destroying the middle class.

7. they are proffessional liars that will say anything to create a stir and boost ratings
Hannity/Limbaugh/Coulter and their ilk are people with no soul and no values and no ethics. nothing they do is real.

10. I don't know that I agree with this assessment
But then a person who is genuine in following a bad ideology scares me a lot more than a total fraud.

20. Well plenty of people seem to be following it who aren't making money off it.
I totally don't believe the latter - they will be attacking Clinton or Obama, but they will be lukewarm on McCain - Rush and Coulter at least.

and it hints at how the Iraq War will be repackaged:

"McCain will clean house and remove the incompetent wingnuts and stabilize a pro-Western government in Iraq."

Translation: The main body of the killing is over. Time to start pumping the oil.

15. Frankly that's three votes and who gives a shit
The question is whether or not they will influence their audiences to not work for McCain, to not support him financially and all.

that they won't vote for a black man OR a woman, no matter what.

23. Ummmmm. Yeah. But Dittoheads wouldn't vote for John Edwards either
Probably wouldn't even vote for Joe Lieberman.

The ball game isn't getting them to vote for us, its whether or not they would work to support McCain - Volunteering, donating money, stuff like that. Hell if they don't show up at the polls at all that's great for us.

14. Two rules WRT Conservatives

1. Conservatives always lie.

2. Conservatives never stop lying.

I think that covers it.

18. It's an interesting question. I think the riff between C-PAC Conservatives and
McCain is genuine, and people like Hannity, Limbaugh, and Coulter know that's their audience. It's impossible to know what's in their hearts, but I get the impression that they're mostly about their pocketbooks.

21. I think Coulter is 100% about her pocket book
Hannity too. Rush i think it's about half and half. He does clearly know what his audience wants and he does like following their whims; but he's also on the same level as them in a lot of ways. In other words his fued with McCain is fueled by a sense of genuine disgust with the man, and the knowledge that the feud will play will with his audience.

24. I would like to think that it's genuine
However, I imagine that it is more likely a ruse or at least some temporary grumbling that will likely subside by the convention because, after all, WHO are they going to vote for in November and I think that they are smart enough to know that not voting would assure their defeat in 2008? They obviously won't vote for the Democratic nominee and they hate us Democrats SO much that they wouldn't want us to win the WH so my prediction is that most if not all of them will hold their noses and vote for the all-but-certain-GOP-nominee McCain. I also suspect that McCain will probably be smart enough to nominate somebody more conservative than he is considered to be as VP to help "smooth over" the differences between himself and the far right. If there is one bit of consolation to be gleaned from the Democratic primary brawl between Hilary and Barack it's that the Republicans are pretty much as unhappy with their presumptive nominee as we seem to be with ours (in general).

26. their problem
is if McCain wins, they can't very well go around bashing him, after all you gotta support your president no matter what except if it's a democrat

they support hillary because they feel a clinton presidency will bring the clinton bashers back into their fold

has nothing to do with being conservative, or doing what's best for the country - it's just a way to raise their ratings, and rake in a few more bucks off of the ditto-headed kool-aid drinkers

27. I don't know
I don't know how a nice liberal like me could be related to so many republicans but at least I do get to hear what baloney they are believing. One of my most conservative cousins believes that the surge is working and that the republicans will rally around McCain. Her comments were there was no other place for them to go. Knowing her like I do I take it to mean she and others like her will vote repuke, no matter what. BTW, she is a neocon so she does not speak for all republicans.
