I've been having a lot of trojanviruses recently.

Has anyone else? Today, the only websites I visited were DU and Raw Story, although I think I visited other websites yesterday. The outbreak was so bad toward the end of last week that I had to call a computer expert. Since that time I have scanned my computer every single day with the new virus protection software the expert downloaded for me. Is anyone else having this problem?

I thought I might be getting from a download in an e-mail I opened, if that was the cause, it was taken care of. I seem to be getting new viruses several times a week although I am cleaning my history, temp files and cookies every day or every other day.

Any suggestion? Anyone else having this problem?

Forgot to mention: Symptoms: extremely slow computer and even not being able to get to websites. Also an extreme amount of spyware.

Norton's seems to be getting them all and I have the latest versions, so I can only hope I'm safe.

6. My husband picked one up last week

that was so virulent that the computer people had to wipe his hard drive. Every time they thought they had it, a little piece of it would remain and completely infect everything again. He's been running AVG, but the computer guys said there's been a run of really sneaky stuff showing up lately.

I, on the other hand, have just this minute decided that I am not going to say a word...you know how that is, right?? the minute you make a statement, you live to regret it...but yes, he's had an awful time...I have Zone Alarm suite, and use firefox...he has McAfee and also uses firefox...and McAfee has NOT been catching his problems..wb

8. It sounds like you need to harden your computer.

An anti-virus is a good start, but it is by all means not a complete defense.

You don't have to do everything listed ,but it will steer you in the right direction.

Cleaning your history, temp files, and cookies will help your computer run more efficiently, but it is not going to prevent an infection.

9. I have been looking for a site I can trust.

It's more difficult than it seems because there are sites out there that recommend "Anti-spyware" stuff that turns out to be spyware.
