4. I hate stories like this about Cheney...
Because it takes everything I have in me not to say or even think something understandable but probably unforgiveable...:eyes:

5. I can only hope AH didn't chew out the mechanics.
He's about as understanding and accepting as a starving German Shepard in a butcher shop, and I can't see him just accepting the fact that mechanical things sometimes have problems, no matter who owns them! Maybe they'll keep him in Sinapore!!!!!!! PLEASE??????

16. Don't they cane people there for spitting on the sidewalk?
Maybe someone can give him a gun to shoot some pigeons. That ought to get the authorities involved.

Cheney plane trouble

There are reports the plane of US Vice President Dick Cheney has been diverted after experiencing mechanical problems.

Mr Cheney flew out of Sydney this morning en route to the United States on board Air Force 2, a Boeing 757, after a three-day visit.

Prime Minister John Howard says he's heard a report the plane was diverted but is not aware of the full circumstances.

Mr Howard says it's a matter for the United States embassy.

It's believed the aircraft will land in Singapore to rectify the mechanical problems.

and a odd craft was witnessed over the Indian-Pacific Ocean region. A local photographer caught it on film:

11. It was breaking news about an hour ago
"It seems, it had problems taking off also"

Fropm the courier mail.

Mr Cheney's Boeing 757 was delayed temporarily at Sydney Airport this morning for an unknown reason. As it stood still, revving its engines to make its initial advance towards the runway, it suddenly powered down. The main door opened and the mobile stairwell then immediately returned to the plane, but it was waved off by security personnel. The plane then proceeded to the runway and took off, en route to the United States.

20. and the story has been here on DU for a lot longer
than that, which leads me to ask....

wasn't there a convenient time lapse when he shot his friend in the face so he could sober up and get all the stories straight?

But I still wonder why the reporters on board who are travelling with him haven't said anything either...unless of course, it IS some minor mechanical breakdown.

To stop in Singapore tho is a bit strange...seems a bit out of the way.

Sky News said Air Force Two was being diverted to Singapore.

The US Consulate in Sydney said the vice-president's plane had been scheduled to make a fuel stop in Singapore and a spokeswoman could not confirm if the plane was experiencing mechanical problems.

She said any information on the flight would come directly from the White House, but it is unknown if a statement will be released confirming or denying the reports.

Mr Cheney's plane was due to depart on schedule from Singapore, she said.

18. That's a little odd, from Sydney to Singapore is only about 3500 miles
a 757 should be able to go twice that far without refueling. I smell a rat.
