Lou Dobbs and his American flag lapel pin
Edited on Sat Feb-02-08 01:14 PM by Cyrano
I rarely watch CNN, but I’ve heard about Dobbs' anti-immigrant crusade.

A few nights ago, I watched him for a minute, but I didn’t hear a word he said. All I did was stare at that divisive “Republican-owned-symbol,” his American flag lapel pin. Is he afraid we’d mistake him for a Hungarian or Peruvian pundit?

The flag lapel pin crap started during the Nixon years of the Vietnam War. Nixon and many other Republicans started wearing that lapel pin as a way of saying to anti-war protesters, “We’re real Americans and you’re not.”

It was absolute proof, if any was needed, that “Patriotism is the last resort of the scoundrel.”

The current imbecile in the White House always has one on his lapel. It makes me wonder how many people in other countries have come to view our flag as a symbol of oppression over the last seven years.

So, Lou Dobbs, keep wearing your pathetic little pin. It indeed confirms my impression that you are a know-nothing idiot. Perhaps when the thugs are thrown out of the White House, you too will go away.

1. Nothing says republican like a flag lapel pin.
Bush and Cheney have forever tarnished this symbol.

3. This veteran views it as conservative porn
used to titillate and excite "conservatives" who think only they can be patriotic. I've folded many flags off a coffin of fallen servicmen and presented it to loved ones. I've raised and lowered flags for several years while in uniform. I presented several flags to retirees and received MY flag upon my retirement. Jerkoffs who wear flag lapel pins for political reasons don't know a Goddammned thing about our flag. Flag lapel pins are definitely for use by scoundrels. The only time I wore a flag lapel pin was at a Navy Promotion ceremony and I was in civilian clothes, and it was totally appropriate that day.

5. One of the things I like about Obama is he took his off.
I stopped watching Dobbs when it became clear he hates people who have brown skin.

13. The bigger the lapel pin, the bigger the asshole.
Edited on Sat Feb-02-08 02:11 PM by Cyrano
Yeah, it's not a pin, yet Delay is the super nova of what defines an evil, hate-mongering, despicable member of our species.

People like DeLay bring shame and dishonor to what the flag (supposedly) represents. I don't know if our flag will ever again be respected anyplace in the world. It's possible that many view it as we view a swastika.

15. I don't have a problem with anyone wearing an American flag lapel pin.
I'll be damned if I surrender my flag to them.
