32. Mitt failed.
He needed to score some points. Instead, he rattled off series of statistics, and tried to answer every charge McCain made. Poor tactics for a debate. He should have called McCain out on lying -- by saying something like, "John, didn't you resent it when other people lied about you in 2000?" That carries emotional value, plus puts McCain on the hot seat. Instead, he opted for the worst debate technique: the long, overly detailed rambling response.

I think the party elders will have trouble pushing Mitt now.

33. By now, alas, he has no chance anyway. We will just have to figure out how to
beat McCain. His position on Iraq alone should make him very vulnerable in the GE -- but it has to be exploited very skillfully. Also the kind of judges he would appoint -- Roberts is his ideal. People who think McCain is not as bad as what the GOP could possibly come up with should think of the future of the Supreme Court -- with perhaps two more Roberts in the first 4 years alone.

McCain is the past. Washed up. Has Been. He will sink like a stone next to Obama or Clinton.

did Bush. Hopefully the populace is smarter now and knows that who is the pres does matter, in spades.

35. I think Mittens is done.
And they didn't give Huckster or Paul a fair shot. The strangest thing to me was the supportive jab from Paul. While Anderson was reading a question to mitt, he mentioned something supportive of mccain, and Paul nudged him, almost like a cue. Very strange. Paul didn't seem too upset about being shut out. Huckster did.

Old Man Cain looks to be the Nominee. What a bore. He really seems past his prime. Not ready for the likes of Obama or Clinton.

or is McCain's "my friend" expression a code word for "you A-hole"? As far as the debate goes I think McCain and Mitt both looked horrible. I guess Huckabee won by default. Shouldn't change much, McCain is still going to steamroll on Tuesday.

it was embarrassing. The USA jet liner in the background was a nice touch, but why not reenact 911 in the background and have Reagan sitting atop the WTC swatting airplanes.
