Teh State of teh Onions
We all know Dumbya's under tremendous stress right now:

1) He's trying desperately to cement his legacy in order to line up decent speechifying enragements. Poppy's not going to pay for all that scotch and Lil' Georgies goin' all Dirty Harry on the Middle East doesn't seem to have gone over well with the house of Saud or any of our other former allies. They may have been in on the initial planning, but he's done gone off the reservation and now they're pissed. Future paydays may be few and far between.

2) His efforts to carry out a preliminary strike on Iran are continually being thwarted by a resurgent intelligence community, a State Department that suddenly remembered their mandate then grew a spine, the few remaining heretical non-believers in the military and a really lame audio/video production shop. He can't catch a break.

3) The damned economy didn't wait until he vacated the WH before the complete and utter failure of his fiscal, economic and financial policies brought it crashing down on each and every one of us. Now he can't blame it on an upcoming Democratic administration because he owns this mess. Is it any wonder the Republicans are running the current slate of certifiable buffoons? No sane or competent Republican wants the job or has the imagination to conceive a way to clean it up.

The neocons desperately want war with Iran, but the unauthorized version of the NIE dealt them a crippling blow. They've had to come up with a whole new game plan and have been working night and day to create yet another Bushit debacle to sell to the public. Be ready to laugh till you cry, 'cause they're desperate. However, know that whatever he says about Iran is unlikely to make much sense: Iran is the current neocon holy grail - their wettest wet dream, first dishonest billion and biggest con ever, all rolled into one - so he's under immense pressure and therefore bound to mangle this (most important) part of the speech.

The best Dumbya can hope to do with the economy is attempt to minimize the importance of what we've seen happen over the past few weeks and tell us that everything will be back to normal in no time. Then he'll make a big deal of the stimulus package, snipe at the Democrats for not rubber stamping his brilliant plan (even though they caved on every point), then strongly imply that, if it doesn't work, it will have been their fault. He may even announce another Federal Reserve Rate cut, to the surprise of the Federal Reserve board. No mention of the $2+ billion/week cost of the the "War on Terra", the doubling of the national debt or the halving of the value of the dollar will be made and this segment of the speech will be brief.

A new, simplistic buzzword for each of his main issues is a given, as it is for every State of the Union speech - doubtless something he and his minions have test marketed over the past couple weeks. Those of you able to watch the WH pressers without experiencing an aneurysm have the lead on this. Just have your shots poured and ready because he's going to "catapult the propaganda". Whatever the one, two or three new words are, they will be short, sweet, easily pronounced by a mentally challenged three year old, instantly identifiable by anyone who's been paying attention and repeated as often as "9/11" in a Ghouliani speech. A lot of people are going to be skipping class or calling in sick to work on Tuesday since this is his last SOTU and it's bound to be a doozy. Hint: Shop early unless you want to be doing shots of Creme de Menthe, Triple Sec or sweet Vermouth. It's going to be a big day for the liquor industry.

Iraq, Afghanistan and, likely Israel are bound to be mentioned. However, the current situation in each of them is reflecting poorly on this administration and there's been too much recent press exposure detailing the facts on the ground: Mushareff as much as told the U.S. to fuck off, the Iraqis are flexing their diplomatic muscles and Israel and Palestine are at it again, with further escalation bound to follow. This portion of the speech will also be brief and likely limited to "the surge is working", "the death toll and number of attacks continue to fall", "3,200 marines to Afghanistan" and, the kicker, "ongoing negotiations with the government(s) of and progress/solutions/deals/agreements are assured and/or imminent."

Finally, some grand announcement about the success of the World Economic Summit is inevitable. It won't necessarily be favorable to either (genuine) U.S. interests or the neocon agenda, but he'll surely try to spin it that way and claim it was based on a U.S. proposal.

Anyway, that's my POV on the final SOTU from the Worst pResident Ever. Please feel free to comment; constructively, if possible. Freepers will be ignored and/or laughed at, but don't let that deter you. Your insane posts of twisted illogic and mongreled English never fail to amuse and I always seem to catch the greatest threads after the mods have deleted the best replies. Additionally, if any of you certified wordsmiths wish to expand or expound on what I've written for further distribution or reposting, I would appreciate a mention.

1. He recently used "robust" in some speech...
it's not new but is easily pronounceable and I expect to hear it at least 5 to 10 times in the SOTU. I am specially looking forward to any new 4 syllable words which he will enunciate phonetically giving equal emphasis to each syllable like a proud fourth grader who just mastered today's new word. Of course there is no way I could listen to any speech of his live so I will be content once again to get the play by play on DU.
Bonus points if you can guess how many standing ovations will be initiated by Joe Lieberman.

2. I guarantee you he's not worrying about money.
This "legacy" thing is not about securing lucrative speech engagements. It's ego. This is the man who drunkenly slurs, "I am the president. I am the president. I am the president." He wants to be a big shot, and isn't going to give up that dream without a fight. For the first time in his life, he has something to work for, and he will spend the fuck out of your tax dollars to ensure that he has something for the MSM to laud him for. He'll be having books ghost-written for him, too.
