It's the economy
Of course it is. Will be have a full blown stock market crash and/or depression before the General Election?
Will it affect who we nominate for our candidate and who ultimately wins?
I am not sure how I feel about the "stimulus" package...somehow I think it is just buying time for the inevitable. We cannot continue on a government of cutting taxes and unfettered spending. It isn't sustainable in my house and it isn't sustainable in my country.
Taxes are going to HAVE to go up. Simple math tells us that and the republicans will pin us down to an answer on it during the runup to the election. We cannot keep cutting taxes. If the economy is going to tank, I'd rather it happen on THEIR watch...sorry, but that is just me. Otherwise they will saddle the Democratic Party with it for YEARS and they will tell everyone it is because they had to raise taxes.
What will YOU do with your $500? Me? I will pay my electric bill...it isn't going to go to stimulate the economy and I suspect that that will be the case with many Americans.
Personally I don't have money in stocks, I have a 401k--I'm guessing that will probably get lost in the mess and I have a cash stash and very little in the bank. I am stockpiling food and supplies again...and I am quite certain it is going to get worse before it gets better.
