Archivist of the United States supports IG audit findings re: gifts to sitting/former Presidents
Just over two months ago, the Archivist of the United States issued this http://www.archives.gov/press/press-releases/2008/nr08-24.html">press release, indicating support for the http://www.archives.gov/congress/documents/presidential-libraries-ig-report-2007.pdf">IG audit findings.

If gifts to a sitting President and First Spouse should undergo such extensive accounting ... why not outright cash money?
