"Reagan did a lot of great things..." Then I ask them to name ONE...
And they come up with "Well he did but I just cant remember one right now".
Besides the ridiculous "He ended the Cold War", statement, they cant name ANYTHING ELSE!

Try this sometime.

Evening in NYC looked like Bombay circa 1940. Thousands were homeless
and sacked out all over the sidewalks. Nothing like it in our nations history.

17. Title IX.
He tried to destroy Title IX by watering it down.

Does anyone remember that?

Title IX is not in place only for women's sports. The lawsuit originated when a well-qualified woman was not given a full professorship because she was too strong "for a woman."

We've been paying in extra to build up a surplus so that SS would be there for us when we retired. Ha! Now we just have a bunch of gen x'ers telling us how we're sucking up too much oxygen. Thanks Ronnie. Thanks repos. Thanks Reagan dems.

Before Bush* Reagan presided over the greatest expansion of our National Debt in history. Bush* came along and put that title to rest and also presided over the greatest economic turn around in history..

Oh wait, I can think of one...
6 million jobs created in the first 2 years of his presidency.
Oh yeah, then there's the lowest combination of unemployment and inflation in 25 years.
Then there's the 600 billion dollar deficit reduction.
The Brady Bill and a massive reduction of bureaucracy. Those are a few, but a book could be written. Not that he didn't do some shitty stuff as well, but he was infinitely better than Reagan.

Edited on Fri Jan-18-08 03:48 PM by GreenTea
(ALL Republicans say), that it was simply Reagan who single-handedly brought down the USSR...(Because Reagan has no other legacy for the republican sheep to hang on to).

Reagan (like Bush) did absolutely nothing to help anybody, except the rich and the corporations...absolutely nothing!! Nobody can name anything Reagan or Bush did for the workers, vets, the poor, minorities, women, or the sick, nothing!

It's insulting, to every other American president before Reagan, (and after)...Truman, Ike, JFK, LBJ, Nixon, Ford & Carter (and Bush Sr., as well)...ALL, increased military spending, (each year during their respective terms)...Carter for instance, increased military spending no less than 5% in each of his four years...as well as all the others ALSO increased MILITARY spending...

The Soviet Union could not keep pace with our military spending and Gorbachev knew it would be suicidal for his country to continue trying to keep up the madness & pace, with the US...
Reagan was long gone, out of office, when the Soviet Union actually threw in the towel in 1991, during Bush Sr. presidency. http://www.cia.gov/csi/books/19335/art-1.html

Reagan, started this fascist corporate take over of America and so many voted for this republican liar and blindly & carelessly went along with the greed and selfishness...the facts the way they really are!

41. Thank you for understanding that. I get so sick of the Clinton worship here!
What makes it even worse--Clinton cared so little about the poor people he tossed out, they weren't even tracked, so nobody even knows how many died because of his cynical political use of welfare people.

THEN he has the gall to say that he should have made that his FIRST act.. getting rid of welfare.

What a sweetheart, that Clinton....
