Scarborough: 'Disgusting' Swift Boat attack on McCain could help him
http://rawstory.com/news/2007/Swift_boat_vets_attack_John_McCains_0116.html

Sen. John McCain's military record is under attack in South Carolina by a group linked to the Swift Boat Veterans who attacked Sen. John Kerry in 2004.

The Vietnam Veterans Against John McCain are charging in a mailer that McCain has distorted his own record and that he revealed valuable information when he was captured by the North Vietnamese.

MSNBC's Joe Scarborough asked correspondent David Shuster about the charges, saying, "That seems to be about as low of an attack as I've seen."

(snip)

Tim Russert then chimed in, saying, "John McCain spent five years in a box, baking in the heat. ... And someone is going to attack his patriotism, his courage? Please."

(end snip)

Ummm, I remember, Timmeh, when another candidate was questioned about his medals. Where was the outrage then? Hmmmmm? I remember you and others repeating, repeating, rinsing, and repeating. No vet should have to be put through this. None of them. Do you hear me now, Timmeh?

1. What do you want to bet "VVAJM" is an invention of John McCain?

3. I'm not a fan of McCain, but do you have any evidence to support this allegation?
I'd say the history makes it pretty plausible that the same fucks who lied about John Kerry would go after John McCain; particularly when you think about happened the last time McCain campaigned there.

9. Sorry, but i wouldn't put it past "do anything to win" McCain to gin up his
own Swiftboat-neutralizing sympathy with this BS. If he didn't invent it, he'll at least publicize it for sympathy. He's disgusting.

14. So what would an honorable candidate do? Just keep quiet like Kerry did?
Do you think the Swift Boat Liars are more or less disgusting than John McCain?

18. I don't defend McCain anymore. Nobody respects military service more than I do
(I'm married to a career military officer), but his honor is long gone--I wouldn't care if they made him sorry he ever served.

21. It may be a lie... but I'm more than happy to watch him go down no matter
how it has to happen. Let them tear him apart like hyenas, I'll stand back and silently watch. He doesn't even stick up for his own family, for God's sake.

5. And the fact that MSNBC, who promotes McCain relentlessly, is manufacturing
most of the publicity and outrage and sympathy about this "attack" makes me doubly suspicious.

7. From the SF Gate
"But the TV spots became a center of controversy Thursday when McCain, in an interview with the Associated Press, harshly criticized the ad.

"It was the same kind of deal that was pulled on me," McCain said, referring to attacks on his military record during the 2000 Republican primary race by supporters of Bush. At the time, Kerry and other senators who served in Vietnam came to McCain's defense. Kerry and McCain also worked together in the 1990s on resolving the question of American soldiers missing in action in Vietnam, which led to normalized relations between the countries.

"I deplore this kind of politics," McCain told the Associated Press. "I think the ad is dishonest and dishonorable. As it is, none of these individuals served on the boat (Kerry) commanded. Many of his crew have testified to his courage under fire. I think John Kerry served honorably in Vietnam. I think George Bush served honorably in the Texas Air National Guard during the Vietnam War."

12. George Bush hasn't done one honorable thing in his life..
the fact that McCain carries his water for him makes McCain less honorable in my eyes.

13. These asshats were fine with it when the "Not Fonda Kerry" crowd..
was in full swing, trashing Kerry's good name. Now they're outraged when it happens to one of their own. McCain is a fool for ever trusting this bunch again after what they did to him in 2000.

16. Old news to Arizonans. I don't support "swiftboating" but those rumors have surrounded him
since he first ran as our junior Senator. There's a degree of evidence to back some of them up as well.

I can't say how I feel about this (I DESPISE McCAin), but this is old news in AZ.
