Big contrast last night between Edwards and the Senate Dems Clinton & Obama
The most obvious difference in last night's debate between Edwards and the others was his passion and empathy for Americans. Even Frank Lutz's focus group showed the impressive way voters responded to Edwards message.

But after watching I realized its not special words or a style of delivery, its the fact that Clinton and Obama demonstrate time and again that they're DC insiders who long ago developed a tin ear about the problems facing voters. They've been told by so many lobbyists and consultants for the last 7 years that the American people are not an important priority. They've been conditioned time and again to turn off or ignore the complaints of their constituents.

Obama and Clinton really think we don't have the right to demand that they get out of Iraq, fix the economy, solve the energy crisis, get good health care for all and stop letting the corporations rip us off. They don't think its our job.

Low expectations. They've been conditioned to it for so long, I believe they no longer think we're entitled to ask them to represent us and do their job. Just under the surface, like most of the Dems in Congress, they're annoyed as hell that we haven't figured out we have no role to play in our own democracy anymore nor are we entitled to tell them how to spend our money. I think they wish we would just shut up and go away, and I don't think they'll feel any differently if they win the WH.

Edwards years outside the bubble have helped him tremendously in this respect. He still believes we have a right to petition our government, to demand it set itself to rights, fix its problems and look to the future.

2. I like this sentence...
" its the fact that Clinton and Obama demonstrate time and again that they're DC insiders who long ago developed a tin ear about the problems facing voters"

Obama assumed office on Jan.3rd 2005 ...Edwards was in the Senate longer than that.

Thanks for the laugh.

3. I doubt Obama will ever foget what he saw and worked to improve as an advocate
on the streets of the South Side of Chicago for 3 years. That experience informed his work in the Illinois Senate and is still part of who he is. Edwards was bsically unpolitical at the parallel part of his live.

Obama is in the Senate now, as Edwards was in 2004. Edwards did not opt to be an outsider - he ran in 2004 to be President and then accepted the VP nomination. This is just spin to turn his current position into a plus.
