Uh-Oh. NBC Nightly News Starts off With "Iran Is Defying the World"
A new report from the UN confirms what the Bush Administration has been saying - Iran has not stopped enriching uranium.

Iran has not suspended its nuclear program
Iran is making 3000 centrifuges that can produce fuel for nuclear weapons
Iran is stalling inspections

But...economic sanctions are beginning to have an impact on Iran's oil and gas industry...but the U.S. may have to go it alone.

However - I have seen many reports to the contrary. What gives? Are the war drums beginning to beat in earnest? Because from what I have read the equipment Iran is using is old and dilapidated, and thus (I thought) they don't see it as a major threat.

8. Most of the time, Williams is not a tool
But, he was tonight. I still watch him every night rather than any of the others, because, on the whole, he is more non-partisan than any other newscaster.

4. And the war on terror is widening..
Say, did anything that * has done alleviate this threat of terrorism anyway? Has *'s handling of Iran improved the situation one iota?

5. Actually what they did is effectively emboldened a major enemy...
any fool could have guessed the scenario:

Invade Iraq
Watch the country fall into civil war, Shi'ia vs. Sunni
Watch Shi'ite Iran rise up, ensure a civil war torn Iraq becomes a new Shi'ite state, then become the preeminent power in the region
=
pretext for war w/Iran.

Hmph. Then again, Bush DID say many a time they want to "reshape" the Middle East. And he meant every word.

7. Iran is "defying the world" by being located between Afghanistan and Iraq.
