Obama soars to 68% among SC blacks, Edwards takes 30% of White SC Vote, Hillary Doomed in SC

New PPP poll for SC has huge shift to Obama among blacks - 68% now for O, only 19% for HRC!

Edwards is splitting the white vote, taking 30% to Hillary's 43%, but this is really a favorite son situation for Edwards. He should be doing much better than this!

This is fantastic! Obama leading HRC at 44% to 31% overall with 8% undecided.

http://www.publicpolicypolling.com/pdf/PPP_SC_Release_011308.pdf

Obama................... .44%
Clinton.................... .31%
Edwards................. .16%
Kucinich ................. . 1%
Undecided.............. . 8%

Internals

Black vote: Obama 68, Hillary 19, Edwards 4
White vote: Hillary 43, Edwards 30, Obama 19, Kucinich 2
"Other" vote: Obama 62, Hillary 14, Edwards 5, Kucinich 5

With Edwards still in, Obama will win every southern state, as well as big states in the NE too now. With 70% of the national black vote, CA, NJ, PA, MA, even NY becomes possible for an Obama win. IN, MO, are now out of reach for Hillary.

Hillary will win FL and MI I guess now, but wait --- they won't be allowed to vote for the nomination!

With 70% of the black vote and Hillary blowing the Latino vote through her Las Vegas supporters' lawsuit, Obama should win at least 35 states.

3. I hope you are being sarcastic.
A big win in SC will shift the momentum dynamic once again. And if he is fortunate to win both SC
and Nevada. It will be three to one going into February 5th. He will have the money and the mo
to match HRC. The race would be even.

4. I am kidding. I do think it will be his last big win, and that he will ultimately
not win the nomination, but it will be a tight race.

6. More than even if that happens. Obama will have 70% of the black vote
and wins every southern state. So he does not need the white vote in the South as long as Edwards stays in!!

Then outside the South, whites LOVE HIM.

Winning the blacks over in SC means Obama takes the whole ball of wax eventually. He can equal Hillary in the big states now.

He already has her out-gunned on the ground in many states.

5. Thanks for the glib, useless, lacking in context or info post
You're really increasing our chances of having a Dem win the White House in November. I hope you're proud.

9. 68% of 29% of the population dooms Clinton ...
Edited on Mon Jan-14-08 12:48 AM by sjdnb
how? I'm not supporting either one, but please if you are going to use statistical polling data, at least understand the underlying data related to the stats you are citing. And, what is this "other" vote? (as of 2006 68.5% of SC was classified demographically as "White") So, restated, the line about the 'other vote' should read:

Obama 62% of 2.5% of the population ... yahoo!

10. And some say there is no race card?
So black will vote for Obama because "MLK is ours."

Don't worry, Clinton will carry CA and NY and probably MN.

12. Interesting. Southern Dems seem to be gravitating Edwards only as alternative to Hillary / black man
Edited on Mon Jan-14-08 04:11 AM by Leopolds Ghost
In that order of preference, seemingly.

And not out of any love for Edwards' traditional populist message,
much less Dean's hopeful idea of Southern liberalism taking root.

Sure, sure, there are plenty of people who support a populist or
liberal message in the South for reasons other than the race of
their primary opponent and his or her supporters.

We/they are just outnumbered, it seems.

Hell, Hillary got the huge majority of the POOREST white NH voters,
especially working class white women. No doubt for her economic message.

NEAL: "What."
DRIVER: "You're going the wrong way."
NEAL: "He says we're going the wrong way."
DEL: "Oh, he's drunk. How would he know where we're going?"
NEAL: "Yeah, how would he know? Thank you. Thanks a lot. Terrific."
DEL: "Thank you. What a moron."

Every one here should be disturbed about the vote breaking on racial lines. This is NOT a good thing.
