"Can Hillary Cry Her Way Back to the White House?"
That was the headline of a Maureen Dowd column in today's New York Times.

Hillary Clinton's win in New Hampshire last night was shocking. The performance of the national press corps in the last couple of days, unfortunately, was not.

Tell the media: Stop pimping prejudice.

Journalists have been replaced by a punditocracy that makes its living (and gets its kicks) by perverting our democratic process. The misogyny that was unleashed by the media's feeding frenzy on the video of an exhausted Clinton tearing up at a small New Hampshire roundtable of voters was just the tip of the iceberg.

Whether we agree with Clinton on the issues, the assault on her candidacy based on gender is unacceptable. So too is biased and uninformed commentary on the minority status of other candidates (Obama's ethnicity, Romney's religion to name just two).

To be clear, we are not endorsing any candidate. This is not about who we choose for president, but rather how we choose our next leader. Voting based on sexist logic propagated by media monopolies is no way to select a candidate.

Our nation is at a critical juncture. A sober citizenry must make informed decisions about who will lead our country in addressing more crises than any previous generation has faced: global warming, unending war in Iraq, and multiple constitutional crises.

Tell the major media outlets: Stop pimping prejudice. (This petition will be delivered to top executives at CNN, Fox, NBC, ABC, CBS, NPR, the New York Times, the Washington Post, the LA Times, the Chicago Tribune, and the Drudge Report.)
Thank you for working to build a better world.

4. You're too kind to her
Dowd is more damaging to the credibility of Progressive causes than perhaps any other columnist, largely because she is somehow ranked among "liberal" pundits despite a decade-long smear campaign against every prominent Democrat she can get in her sights.

She's horrible. Worse than Coulter. Worse than Malkin. Worse than Limbaugh. Worse than Hannity.

Horrible, and she's no great writer, either.

10. Agree. She hates Mrs. Clinton worse than anything. I read her columns and
have never seen her write anything except venom about her.

15. Ditto for Gore and Kerry
Worse, Dowd's position in the industry gives her a measure of dubious credibility, so when she describes Gore as "lactating in his excitement," for example, it hits a lot harder than if a recognized hack, such as Neil Boortz, were to write the same thing.

16. DISAPPOINTING? hating the Clintons is her raison d'etre - just like Tweety
She invented more stories about them than the whole Arkansas Project

Can't agree more, and I don't support HRC in any way. She's nothing more but on her way to being another Lieberman in my book.

7. Oh please, Maureen!
Disgusting, just disgusting.

What about Mittens? He's cried more than once. Is HE gonna cry his way into the White House?

I'm not in Hilary's camp, but I am with a lot of people here who find this crap just disgusting!

8. K&R Much as I don't want Hillary to win
the media coverage sucks. I'm an Obama fan who was almost (not quite though), happy that she won last night, just because I do NOT want to be told by the media who I should vote for.

I didn't like it when Hillary was almost being coronated, and I really didn't care for it for Obama, either. I want him to win, but not via media.

14. Let us be thoughtless, numb, AMORAL, profiteering assholes,...each and every one.
We'd kick ass, then,....IF WE WERE ALL LIKE THOSE soft-handed, forked-tongue, manipulative robber barons.

They'd run away screaming "like a girl"!

:sarcasm: Sort of. If ALL of us went after them they way they do us, on a psychological level, they would freak,...and you KNOW IT!

Sometimes, I like to imagine hounding their minds every damn day for about a year, beating up on them for their AMORALISM and showing images of what they contributed to: mangled babies and mommies and daddies, starving human beings, disabled and dead American soldiers, etc. etc. etc.

20. Dowd has officially jumped on the crazy train
she is a craw that needs to be removed in our journalistic progress. A box of rocks can write better than her. Her attacks on Clinton, Obama and Gore are unforgivable.
