For all the perceived "good" they do for a community's recreational choices, they also take up an inordinate amount of usable land and contribute to the pollution of local watersheds.

Since fishing, boating and swimming are recreational activities as well the two pastimes are often at loggerheads.


Plus golf was and still is to some extent a rich WASP pastime.
