Obama's web site keeps causing Safari to crash. Oh well.
I use Safari 1.3.2 because I have Mac OSX 10.3.9 and the newer version of Safari won't run. I decided to read Obama's web site to see if there is any compelling reason for me to support Obama instead of Edwards. But no luck - after one or two pages, Safari crashes and I am returned to the Finder. Does anyone else have this problem with Obama's web site? 95% of all web sites I visit work flawlessly with Safari 1.3.2 - when one crashes out I view it as a sign of an inexperienced web programmer who hasn't tested the site on all the commonly used browsers.

2. How can I vote for him if I can't read his web site?
If they are going to use fancy programming tricks, they should at least offer a basic, text-only version of the material.

7. How common is Safari?
If Windows-based PCs make up somewere in the neighborhood of 90-95% of the market, and not all Mac users use Safari, then is Safari really a commonly used browser?

14. Well, it does come already installed on all new Macs, and according to the traffic at my web site,
3% of visitors to my web site are using Safari. The traffic statistics report for my web site currently says:

MS IE 72.6%
Mozilla 19.3%
Safari 3.0%
UP.Browser 1.4%
Opera 1.3%
Netscape 0.6%
Unknown 1.4%

8. I'm sure you were really considering Obama
Your post is just brimming with concern for the functionality of the campaign's website. Your concern is so obviously genuine and heartfelt, and your motives so utterly transparent. There are so many of you on this site lately. Makes me wonder if there's a bridge you all hang out under together somewhere.

11. I guess I'll have to try Firefox. I don't allow IE or anything from µsoft to touch my computer.

13. Get Camino.
I always keep in on hand as an alternative in case Safari has problems.

Other than that, upgrade OS X! :P

http://caminobrowser.org/

It's basically the same engine as Firefox (it's a Mozilla browser) but it's made for Mac so it looks more Mac-like and it's waaaaaaaay faster than Firefox on OS X.

Oh, and the latest version still runs on 10.3.

:)

Indeed, the web programmer seems to have no clue how to design a site for anything besides IE. Seems to be a problem with a LOT of web site designers. :(

ON EDIT: The only way I could view his site was to view the source code and copy/paste individual links into my browser. The javascript on that menu is atrocious.

I wish he'd hire me as his web designer...I'd make sure that puppy worked on everything from IE to WebTV! :D
