A toon, then today's letters to the editor. This is a red state
so you will see one serious Kool Aid drinker. There's a very good tribute to Molly Ivins.

1. Very nice tribute to Molly. Wow to the Kool-Aid.
I'm continually amazed, though I shouldn't be. Lemme get this straight:

We're losing in Iraq because the citizens don't support Bush, and, We're hated around the world because we don't teach about a Christian god in our public schools? Mm-hmm. Right.

2. "..when the president's ratings go down, the war heats up.." Oh, so if we all
'support' dumbya in large enough numbers, then the war will be over...?

and another dumbass writes:
"Our image suffers because another country's religious and government leaders can make the following true statements about us:

..the U.S. culture encourages men and women of all ages to seek sex with anyone, at any time.
..the U.S. accepts men having sex with other men as natural.
..laws are being used to prevent naming the Christian God in public.

What a coupla dumb-shits. There ought to be be an IQ test for voting.

Hoping to one-up your koolaid drinker in Kentucky. There was one letter that said * should be nominated for the Nobel, not Al Gore "huckstering pseudo science".

Now I'm all crabby, and it's not even 8:30 yet :(

5. Oregon is a funny animal.
Oregon boasts a large gay community.
Oregon boasts a large gay-bashing community.

Oregon is filled with environmentalists
Oregon is filled with clear-cutting loggers.

Oregon supports many liberals.
Oregon supports many rednecks.

If the Oregonians were not united by a relentless hatred of all things Californian, they would have killed each other off a long time ago.

4. Well, they all managed to get God and Gays in there.
But I am very disappointed that there was no mention of Guns! Come on people, your slacking off in your fox news talking points.

So...these are the people that Dean says we need to work hard to try and win over? :eyes:

7. Reading Obama's book (Audacity of Hope) this a.m. and came across the statement
that more people in this country believe in angels than believe in evolution.

We have a serious problem in this country with a huge segment of the population
that refuse to alter their mystical beliefs in the face of science, fact, and reason.

16. There's freepery from Marie Schmick, sure. But there's
this bit from Nick Zagaruyka from Lexington:

Look in the mirror

I have read many letters that blame our president for our international image. Our image to the world is formed by our actions as a people.

Our image suffers because another country's religious and government leaders can make the following true statements about us:

• The U.S. culture encourages men and women of all ages to seek sex with anyone, at any time. When unplanned and unwanted pregnancies increased from this behavior, as they must, laws were enacted to allow the women to kill their children before they were born.

• The U.S. accepts men having sex with other men as natural. Again, the courts passed laws to give these men special privileges and protection. They have become so jaded in their sexual pursuits that recently, at a national film festival, a movie used a 12-year-old girl to film a brutal rape scene. No objection was raised.

Where are their morals, you ask? They are so ashamed of their own religion that it is illegal to display any symbol of it in public.

• In the U.S. it is a crime to try to teach children about God in the public schools. Even now, laws are being used to prevent the naming of the Christian God in any public forum.

As long as these statements can be used to describe our country to others, there will be people who hate and despise us. Can you blame them?

Nick Zagaruyka
Lexington

I'm sorry, but as a gay man, anyone who claims that I've been given special privileges and protections by the courts can suck my c**k. If this asshat wants to walk a mile in my shoes, he's more than welcome to try it. I'm sure he'll be quite surprised.
