Poll question: How many here canceled NYT because of Kristol's hiring?

I just got off the phone with their subscription center (somehow, I was unable to cancel by e-mail) and advised them why I was canceling. The person there claimed that there had been no other cancellations, then he read me a prepared statement about the need for different journalistic voices and that kristol would be an asset, particularly to the electronic side.

so, the question is, how many here have canceled?

I find it both informative and amusing that
a) they claim no one else has canceled.
b) they have a prepared statement to read (and he read it just like a prepared statement)

1. We subscribed as did our parents and our grandparents. We canceled in 2000

but were, in the last few months, occasionally buying it on Saturdays and Sundays. No more. They are complete whores for PNAC.

2. I cancelled years ago, when the "grey lady" ceased to be a responsbile paper--

judith miller merely confirmed my decision. that isn't to say, however, that I do not excoriate them regularly for being a mouthpiece for the reichwing thugs of this maladministration.

3. I subscribe and rarely read the editorial page

I've been a subscriber for many decades, and I've written them tons of complaint letters about their news coverage. I don't care about their editorial page, especially columnists or op-ed pieces. (Translation: who cares what you think.)

We subscribe to the Times mainly because of their arts coverage, because that is the field that both myself and my spouse are involved in and we have to keep up with all the exhibitions, etc. Plus we get the educators' discount, which makes it affordable. Plus, I'm sorry, but Will Short's crossword puzzles are the best.

4. i still get the crossword thru Chi-Suntimes, just a week late.

That was the real kicker for me, whether to stay or go. But, kristol is simply unacceptable.

I understand that the point of the poll is to ascertain how many people cancelled (or would've, although that's something of a silly question). But if you're going to ask how many people buy at the newsstand and are continuing to do so, why not also ask how many subscribe and are continuing to do so?

Also, after working in NYC for a few years, I still like to know what's going on in the city.
