A permanent writers strike could be good for America

I've always looked at it with the idea that the ignorant need their television and it's probably good to let them have it. But maybe we could break the ignorant from it. If the strike lasts 2 or 3 years perhaps the amount of game shows and reality shows could finally push television so far into the sewer that even the ignorant could abandon it.

1. What a superior, smug, condescending platter of pasture pastry.
Never mind the hundreds of thousands whose livelihoods depend upon the industry.

Never mind the real fear in all those households.

Eeewwww! If that's the content of your mind, it needs an enema.

8. Wow...shouldn't YOU be on strike?
"platter of pasture pastry"
"If that's the content of your mind, it needs an enema."

That's some mighty fine word-use! Makes me wonder if you're one of those writers? In which case, aren't you crossing the picket line by writing this?

Oh well, even if you are, it was fun to read!

 :applause:

2. While I like the idea of weaning the masses from the hypnotic and often dumbing down
effects of TV, I cannot advocate the unemployment of very hard-working and talented writers for any reason. At some point, we should hope people will make a conscious choice to become informed, but not at the expense of an entire group of American workers. These men and women deserve to reap the rewards of their profession and their hard work.

7. Are people supposed to be guaranteed their industry? If what I do went away, I'd do something else.

5. Funny link about the writer's strike.
http://www.cracked.com/article_15773_p2.html

Sure, we fumed over the image of a fat cat studio head thinking he can go it alone with shiny special effects and focus group testing, probably lighting a cigar with a burning baby kitten. But, if the movie going public would take a long look in the mirror, we'd see Wild Hogs and Norbit staring back at us.
